I need to look into this a bit more but it appears to me that when I route MIDI from JS to SD2, the overall output is lower than when I play a drum from within the SD2 GUI.
I would have assumed that since JS is just feeding MIDI to SD2 that the level would remain unchanged.

Play with the song power knob position to see if it is just velocities.

This worked. Turning the power knob to full in JS gave me the same output level as when playing the drums in SD.

I'm extremely happy to know this is on the way!

I tried out the demo this morning and had one problem. As a plugin for Reaper, adding Jamstix as a VSTi got me a blank plug-in window that made me think it wasn't loading. After dragging the window, the UI appeared OK. I then realized that the UI didn't actually update *in* the window but followed it after the window was dragged and released.

Sorry...OSX. (I thought this was an OSX-specific thread.)

System version: 10.8.5
Reaper version: 4.61

Need a little advice as I'm sure it's something I'm doing (or not doing for what it's worth).

I just bought and Eleven Rack and it came with Pro Tools 10 and 11 so I'm giving that a spin and trying to learn it. I did the routing that was mentioned earlier to drive SSD and that worked perfectly, however I ran into a weird issue when trying to record to SSD.

I record enabled the SSD track and hit record... I can see all the MIDI show up in the track and things seem to record just fine. The problem comes in playback. My drums sounded like a death metal band. Then I noticed that the recorded MIDI was shorter in bar length than what the JS editor showed me. JS showed me that the song was 40 bars.. but the recorded MIDI track in Pro Tools was about 29...

I'm betting my newbieness in Pro Tools says that I don't have something configured right, but if anyone can give me any pointers as to what may be wrong I'd be more that willing to listen! LOL

BTW... I was able to grab the edge of the recorded MIDI track and stretch it to the appropriate bar length and that seemed to have done a timestretch to fix the issue.. but I would like to know why thy were so out of sync to begin with.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Jeff

For those having GUI problems, I solved upgrading the Nvidia CUDA driver under OSX 10.9.3.
It can be done under system preferences.[/img]

Ok... got a little more time to mess with this issue I'm having in Pro Tools 11. I tried to see if it would do the same thing in Pro Tools 10 but it seems to not sync nearly as well (new 64 bit engine perhaps) as it does in 11, so I've just been doing it there.

Here is what I've found. If I set up Jamstix on one track and SSD 4 on another and set the routing up and hit play everything stays perfectly in sync. If I watch the time line maker in Pro Tools and the position indicator in JS everything looks perfect- i.e. when the timeline in PT hits bar 4, so does JS.

Now the weirdness. When I Record the MIDI on the SSD track things get really out of sync. By the time the timeline indicator hits bar 2 in PT, Jamstix is almost up to 3 on it's position indicator. In the most recent test I let PT record up to bar 10. By the time it got there JS was up to around bar 18 in the position indicator.

Does that make sense the way I explained it? I thought about making a video showing what I'm trying to explain and can do that later if that will help you visualize what I'm trying to explain.

I've tried messing with MIDI settings in PT and in the options in JS to no avail.

Oh yeah.. I forgot to mention that I'm running RC1 if that a difference.

Please duplicate the issue and then email me ~/Music/Jamstix3/rzdlog.txt for review plus the BPM of your song.
