|
|
Hi all,
I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro, and it's able to run Jamstix. I'd like to be able to quickly set up a drum track with the tablet laying on my sheet music stand. Unfortunately the controls are way too small for digits.
Ralph, is there any chance to design a GUI suitable for tablets? Rearrange things around, make the controls larger... (The tablet is an 8").
That would be a first step toward an iPad version...
Cheers,
Stéphane |

Hi Stephane,
I use JS on a Surface Pro the same way you use your Venue and if you change Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display "Change the size of all items" from the default of Smaller to Medium and Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution to 1360X768 from the default (1920X1080 in my case), JS' GUI is much more usable. Hope this helps you like it did me. |

thanks azimuth.
Unfortunately, the gain obtained by lowering the resolution to 1024x768 is not enough... |

Hi Stephane,
Did you also adjust Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display "Change the size of all items" to medium or large? I just want to make sure you try everything because it is great using JS on a tablet. |

A_zimuth,
yes, I tried to scale up like you said to 125% (no more than that, otherwise my host (bloxpander) complains that the resolution is too low).
125% does not seem to change the appearance of JS.
However, I am not sure this property has anything to do with JS, since JS displays its own widgets and controls, I doubt that JS uses windows settings for "text and other items on the desktop".
Changing the resolution to 1024x768 makes the screen shrink unfortunately (large black borders).
It seems JS has a fixed width and height. It could be expanded to reach the screen borders to be full-screen, and that would maybe be sufficient... But my host does not magnify VST views (and I'm not aware of any host that would do it). |

| That is strange because on my tablet when I scale up JS' window in Reaper opens with horizontal and vertical scroll bars when I get too big. It gets to the point that there are only 3-4 brain controls in the window @300% but I can scroll around to the rest of the interface. Sorry it didn't help you. |

BloXpander does not try to provide scrollbars, I think i's a design choice: the VST should fit into a plain window.
Thanks anyway !

You are running the 'Compact User Interface' in the JS3 Options, right? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

No I wasn't
I tried, but the result is not very satisfying, as I had to scale down the resolution so as to enlarge the JS view. And the intel driver actually physically shrinks the view (there is two large borders on the side of the screen), hence there is no physical gain in size. |
