I couldn't find a way to do this but is it possible to set a number of count in bars?
Most of my songs I leave 1 or 2 bars blank at the beginning to allow for a lead in (get set after hitting record etc.)
Problem I have with Jamstix is that if you set it to do a fill every 8 bars it ends up doing fills on bars 6, 14 etc of my song (even though they are bars 8 and 16 in the sequncer).
Also with the arranger and the keyword jam, it would be good if you could click on each rhythm to preview it (play back 1 bar) so you know whether it is the type of pattern you want or not.

Hi Rich, your host should have a facility to set a count-in. Which host are you using?
Another way is to insert the two missing measures after the recording in the Jamstix arranger (INSERT button)

Its not really the most elegant solution! If I want to generate a new arrangement I assume I would have to reinsert the two bars once the generation was complete?
My tracks don't start at bar one because of MIDI CC data which needs to be sent.
Here is a suggestion:
If you created a "don't start until this bar" field it would solve a number of problems:
1. Automated complete silence at the start of the track without having to send a MIDI CC to shut it up, then another one to start it.
2. There would be more chance of fills being in the right place since they would offset from the "don't start until this bar" field and less need to fiddle with the arrangement.
3. Previewing the track whilst it is generated in Free Jam or Keyword Jam mode would be more fun since fills would be in the right place! 
You could also add an "Auto Intro" button next to it so that an Intro fill was generated at the correct point.
One of the reasons that I am so excited about JamStix is that it does a lot for you without having to add in your own fills/ghost hits/timing variances etc. that you would need to do when manually creating a drum track.
Adding something as suggested above fits nicely with the above concept.

Hi John, we do have a feature that sounds like what you are describing. It's the Start/Stop button in the jam control panel. When checked, Jamstix will wait with jamming until it receives the set trigger note. It will then play a count-in with the sticks and an intro. It will also set the initial velocity to the velocity of the trigger note, great for quiet jams. If you hit the trigger note again, jamstix will play an ending and stop the jam.

| Problem with that is 99% of the time you will use a note more than once and won't want the drums to stop just cause you've gone back to that note... |

That's why you can set the note in the jam control panel to the first key of your keyboard (or last). Unless you're one of those that hit them all...

Will it work for audio as well or only midi?
I want to try and use jamstix to come up with some drum tracks for existing recordings that have no drums yet. But are recorded to a click track so will sync OK with a grid in a sequencr |

In audio mode it is based on audio volume. Check the start/stop box and then there is a threshold at which Jamstix will start and another threshold which, if the volume falls under it for a certain time, will trigger an ending.
