I just bought the Jamcussion upgrade to Jamstix3 and sat down to start becoming acquanted with it. Right off the bat I cought a snag which I wanted to resolve by perusing the manual before posting my newbie questions to the forum (so as to avoid a potential RTFM response .
However, there is no manual I could find! And the Jamstix documentation doesn't seem to belabor on Jamcussion either. So now you have to put up with my silly questions after all.
1) In Jamcussion I only get the "Empty Kit + Percussion" option which doesn't really offer any percussion instruments to speak of.
2) In the style menu of Jamcussion I see no styles at all and also no players.
There must be something I'm doing terribly wrong which is easy to fix. What is it? Any pointers?
Thanks, -- Chris. |

It sounds like Jamcussion did not install. Please run the host via right-click-> Run As Admin and load the Jamcussion RXP2 again. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

OK, I'm almost there, thanks to a_zimuth's link to the Jamcussion manual. I installed Jamcussion via the Packet Installer. I can also switch between Jamstix and Jamcussion and select different Percussion sets. However, all the sounds for the sets seem to be missing. It says, e.g., 14 sounds missing and no matter on which instrument I click, it doesn't produce audio. I can see the midi triggered properly. And Jamstix works just fine. It's just that Jamcussion seems devoid of any sounds.

Click on the missing sounds message and tell me one of the missing sounds. After that, close the host and send me documents\jamstix3\rzdlog.txt. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph, did you get my email? The sound files are where they are supposed to be and Jamcussion should be able to access the folder. Jamstix, after all, has no problem accessing its own sounds and they seem to be stored in the same folder as Jamcussion's.
Any ideas? -- Chris. |

I'm a bit stumped with this.
Jamstix clearly cannot 'see' the files so there must be something different with the access rights. Can you compare the rights to a drum sound file (i.e. Hihat) with one of the 'Bongo' files and see if there is a difference? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Just to put a happy end to this thread: it was a permissions issue on the file access level of Windows 8. all's well now.
