Happy Holidays!

Are there any known issues with this particular combination? My setup is pretty simple, Jamstix on an instrument track doing it's thing. I then add one audio track that has a guitar connected to it, and put Guitar Rig 5 on it. Doesn't matter what amp or preset I use. When I playback, I get awful stuttering/popping/digital noise. The funny thing is, even when not playing back (transport stopped), I get an occasional pop/crackle when I play the guitar, and the place I see that pop in the mixer meter is on the track with Jamstix on it, even though it's not supposed to be making any noise.

If I remove either plugin, everything is fine.

If I do this same experiment in Reaper with both plugins, everything is fine.

CPU usage also appears to be fine (using both Reaper and Studio One). It hovers around 7-12% and there do not appear to be any spikes. Using an Intel Core i5-3570k @ 3.4GHz with 8 Gb RAM.

I am using an Audiobox 1818VSL but have tried a different audio device - same result. One other experiment I tried was using Reaper as a rewire instrument in Studio One, and I put Jamstix on a track in the Rewired Reaper, Guitar Rig directly the audio track in Studio One. This played back fine (but is far from ideal workflow).

Any ideas? I am really not sure which software is causing the problem here. Process of elimination seems to point toward Studio One but thought I'd ask here too.

Please do this:

- run the combo in Studio 1 for 30 seconds
- close Studio 1
- email me Documents\Jamstix3\rzdlog.txt
- run the combo in REAPER for 30 seconds
- close REAPER
- email me Documents\Jamstix3\rzdlog.txt

Thanks Ralph - sent files via email. Thought I'd reply here because I got errors sending, though the email does appear in my outbox. If you did not receive it let me know.

I've looked at the logs. I don't think it's a Studio 1 bug. Not sure what could be causing this. I recommend you set sample rate to 44.1kHz or 48kHz and see if the problem persists.

Hey Ralph,

Actually I was at 44.1kHz when I noticed the problem. Switching to 96k was part of the troubleshooting process. It happens regardless of sampling frequency or bit depth.

You're not using 'Jam With Audio', right?

Correct. I'm using "Normal Jam".

Well, I think the problem is solved. Not sure why but it works fine if Guitar Rig is on a stereo track. Which is not all that intuitive since the track is receiving a mono input (guitar). But after creating the stereo track you can set it to a mono input, and then this issue goes away...

Very odd but glad you found a work-around!
