Hi. Brand new to Jamstix and trying to navigate my way through this program. Can somebody lend me a clue?

I'm working on a song that needs a very specific kick drum pattern to lock in with the bass.

What I would like to do is program in the kick drum by hand, then let Jamstix improvise the other drum sounds. How do I do that?

It seems that every time I audition a different drummer or style, or change any of the parameters in the brain, it overwrites my kick pattern.

Also, what is the effect of locking a bar? The lock button seems to light up as soon as I make a manual change in the pattern, but then my changes get overwritten anyway.

I'm sure these are simple questions, but not for me at the moment. Thanks.

Do this:

- find a style you like
- empty one bar using the trash can icon
- place your kick notes as desired
- save the bar via the bar editor menu
- in the brain menu, click Add->Groove Importer
- in the newly added 'Groove' brain element, select type='JSx Groove', click 'click to load' and select your saved bar
- if the style has a 'Kick' brain element, click on its name and select 'Remove'

Thanks. More questions, hope you don't mind!

Can a groove be multiple bars long?

Here's the scenario. I've got a part that is four bars long. The kick drum pattern is the same in bars 1-3 and then changes on bar 4.

Could I save the whole part as a groove? Or do I need to save and load a groove for each bar? Or one groove for bars 1-3 and another for bar 4?

Is there an Undo function somewhere?

Do the same for multiple bars but hand-code all 4 bars and choose a length of 4 bars when saving from the bar menu. Also, make sure the part has a length of 4 bars.
