I have js and I use the BFD drum module using all 9 outputs running under acid pro 5. Im having trouble with the ride cymbol. When I listen to a groove in BFD as a stand alone app, I can hear the ride symbol. When I import the exact groove into js, it plays a closed hihat instead? What gives? I also cant seem to setup a rythm in js to use the ride cymbol either. I hear nothing when I check power ride.
Also, for the toms, how do I use the different colored hits? White, yellow red etc? |

Check 'Always Ride' in the rhythm tab hihat panel to switch to the ride permanently. Otherwise Jamstix will switch to ride only when it finds it appropriate (power play switch)

Check a box, then right-click on it, hold and move the mouse left or right to change the color.

The ride is still not working properly. Ive got it checked as "always ride" mode, and using bfd, it doesnt work. I get a ride on 1 note, then 3 hihat notes. If I use js internal drum module, the ride works. Just not w/ bfd.
However, the ride in BFD works as a stand alone app.

try moving the velocity slider at the bottom all the way to the right so it lights as green
it's working fine here using BFD and Jamstix

IIRC there was an issue with the BFD ride at low velocities not being heard. While playing your rhythm, right-click and hold on the 'Eighths' checkbox in the hihat panel and slide the mouse up so the box gets brighter which means the velocity is increased (numeric readout in status bar at the bottom). You should hear the ride on 2 and 4 coming up.

Nope its still not working.
Velocity slider is up. "Eighths" box velocity is 127. I hear the ride randomly w/ "always ride" checked, but not like Im supposed to hear it.
Perhaps I have a bum install? Should I try to install it again? |

Ok, so I installed js AGAIN. Nothing. It still doesnt work. This is getting frustrating.
Andrew, did you have to do any configuring of BFD? Ive tried changing the ride from cymbol 3 to cymbol 1 so its played through a different output in js, from output 17-18 to output 13-14. That didnt work either. Do you have the BFD update installed? I do. I guess I could try uninstalling BFD, then reinstalling w/o the patch.
Im kind of stuck till I can get this figured out. |
