|
|
I am coming back to JS after a long break. I have installed 3.5 (64 bit) along with all the packs from the XL version.
I seem to recall form the older versions there was a setting or mode called Free Jam, where you did not have to set up a song structure as it seems to be the case now.
Just load a kit, select MIDI input and then start and JS just kept on playing ad infinitum while still responding to MIDI velocity to control "business" and volume.
I did a search on the forum, but it came up with hundreds of threads, that all appear to be unrelated to the question..so if there WAS a thread about it, sorry, but I could not find it.
Thanks |

| The "Midi Jam" button between "Normal Jam" and "Audio Jam" at top left of the GUI is what you are looking for I believe. See page 23 and 53 of the JS manual. |

Thanks I will re-look at the manual. I did read that section, but must have interpreted it differently.
Cheers |

Okay, I re-read those sections, but they don't explain how to do what I mean. (I didn't think they did )
It still seems you have to setup some sort of song order - ie intro vs ch etc etc - to get it to start playing.
As I wrote in earlier versions JS could do this, but now it seems it is hard-wired to only start playing if a song structure is put in place. Or again, I am still doing something wrong. |

| It would seem that you cannot even load a drum kit without anything setup in the "song" sections window. |

The closest thing to the 'Free Jam' of Jamstix 1 is this:
- load a kit in the kit window
- create a part with many reps (i.e. length=4 reps=50)
- select the 'Freestyle' style for the part
You can save this setup as a quickstart song so you can recall it quickly in the future. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
