Hi everyone.
The manual says:
" Whats more, you can even combine Jamstix sounds and an external drum module to form a mixed kit. For example, you can combine Jamstix cymbals and percussion sounds with an EZDrummer kit. Imagine the possibilities!"
Unfortunately I couldn't find any other information about that in the manual. How can I exactly get mixed kits (I'm using Jamstisx3.5, reaper 4.32 and Addictive Drums)
Thanks |

Hello:
That is my first post, so I say hello to Jamstix users.
I will use this thread because my question is related to the title:
I load JS as instrument, without track. Then I load AD with a track, where I set JS as input. So I can fire AD sounds from JS and record the midi on the AD track. But, if I use a mixed kit (AD+JS) to create the song within JS, what should I do to get a midi track with the sounds of JS?
I suppose I can create a new track with JS as instrument and record the midi from the "master" JS too (as with AD), but I don't know if there is another simpler solution.
I ask that, because my intention was to have midi tracks for AD and JS (used as kit), turning off the JS where I have created the song. If I do not have the midi tracks, I get no sound in the mixdown with my project (Cubase).
Thank you and regards. |

Welcome to the board, Knopf!
Is your goal to avoid using AD and Jamstix "live" in your project during mixdown? I'm trying to understand why you need the MIDI tracks. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hello Ralph:
Yes, my goal is to avoid using them live, not because I don't like this option, but due to the following: when I make a recording with various instruments, mix them and then make the mixdown, I don't hear the drums if I don't have the midi track for AD. So I would like to have in the mixdown the sounds of AD and JS, that are present in the mixed kit (AD+JS) that I load when I create the song within JS. There is another simpler way, maybe.
Beste Grüsse,
Knopf |

Mixdown should be no different than when working the song. Please place a dummy MIDI event in the Jamstix MIDI track in Cubase at bar 600 or so to force Cubase to use JS during mixdown. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

But, with this JS track you mean another instance of JS as drum module or the same JS where I created the song? That is my question, actually, if I need or nor to load another JS as drum module with its own track. When I load JS to create the song, I don't create a track for it. Should I do it, you mean?
Thank you. |

Yes, create a MIDI track for JS so you can control the mixdown behavior. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph: I will try that and write here what happens. Thank you. So as I understand, I will create a midi track for the "main" JS (the one with the song) and I will not open another JS as drum modul.
I forgot to mention the other reason to have a midi track for AD: when I create this track with JS as input and AD as output, the sounds of AD are heard only when I SELECT this track with the mouse. But, if I select for example the bass track, AD doesn't sound. Is there a way to make AD sound without having the midi in the track?
Grüsse,
Knopf |

Make sure monitoring is on in the host for the JS track and you should be hearing AD sound all the time. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ehm. Yes, monitoring was the key... But I need to activate monitoring in the AD track (not JS) to hear the AD sounds, independently of the selected track. Thank you.
And after many tests I can have now a mixdown with AD and JS sounds, without having a track for JS and without recording the midi track for AD. I can't understand why it could not work before.
I think, only if manual edition of midi were required, I would need to open a second JS as drum module with its own track and the same for AD. After recording the tracks the first JS should be turned off).
Thank you for your help, Ralph. |

No need for a second instance. If you need to add MIDI manually, place it in the JS MIDI track and make sure 'MIDI Play In Jam' is checked in the JS Options. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Understood. I will try that, too.
