Working with Bo Diddley Beat, been trying to get the little drop down menu that says player preset to do something! I mean once in a while it changes, but mostly, even when I recompose, it just stays the same, I cant get it to do crossticks for instance or cymbals.

That's because the default 'Bo Diddley' is snare-heavy. Try the 'Hats 1' or 'Hats 2' style presets and then you will see player presets affect the groove a lot more.
