First ever try to MIDI out to cubase.

I found that repeatedly the hats which were programmed closed were caused to be played open during the recording midi to Cubase process.

In the bar editor they were visually closed. They remained played as open hats even after I did all kinds of things:
** Mute the MIDI track

** delete the limb in the bar editor and reprogram in new closed hats

** Put Hat variation to none

** Deleted the hat from the kit and brought a new one in

The only thing that worked was closing down the Cubase project and reopening it.

As of now, I don't know how to record a JS3.3 song to a MIDI track (unless all the hats in the song are open! LOL).

Thanks for any suggestions -

Put a CC4 MIDI message at the beginning of the MIDI track with value=127.

Wow, thanks, Ralph. Sorry if I missed that in the forum or manual somewhere.

I'm going to read up on how to do that, but for now just wondering if it's important to put the MIDI message in the track before sending the output from JS3.3, or can I do it any time later just so long as it is before I play back?

Should I make that part of my routine every time, is it caused by something in my system? Or is it just that one song for some reason?

Thanks, Ralph!

You can add it anytime to the track. I'm not 100% why this happens with Cubase but it may be Cubase sending a general controller reset before playing, which for CC #4 would be an open hihat command.
