Unfortunately I can't help you with logic, so you might try some logic forums to get more advice about using logic. The tutorial I supplied shows how I made it work with digital performer which might give you some clues. There is no reason why it should not work.
Create a virtual IAC midi port using Apple's AudioMidi utility. That will give you midi communication between reaper and logic. Make sure you do this before starting reaper. Reaper and logic should both be able to see the jack audio ports if you start jack first. Then you use jacks patchbay to connect the two applications and send the audio.
Regarding sync, That is hit or miss, I have found the best results having DP slave to Reaper, and having reaper send midi clock and SPP to DP. But you might be able to get it to work the other way around, you'll have to play around. |

Ok, so I've just pressed 'purchase' at the Apple store and, in 8 or 9 days, I will be the owner of a pimped out Macbook!
This is my first step into the Apple camp, and I can't envisage doing it without Jamstix. I'm hoping this solution will work for me, but I'm really keen to know when the official OSX version will come out.
Is there any rough timescale we can know about Ralph? Thanks! |

This is pretty slick.
I've been able to sync both audio and midi with Logic. I haven't had quite the same success with Studio One which is unfortunate because I would like to move from Logic to Studio One.
With Studio One I am able to get the audio routing through but I haven't been able to get the midi working which is what I really want to do. I would like to use Jamstic as the drum engine and use Battery as the sound engine in Studio One. I am getting close but I think I might have come a cross another limitation in Studio One.
I'll keep plugging away though. _________________ darcyb62 |

Hi Darcy
hmm, I AM a Studio One user - I use Jamstix to trigger SSD, so that sounds like a similar set up.
Please let me know how you get on and, when I get time next weekend with my new macbook, I'll try it out too. If you figure out a solution I'd be grateful if you could share it.
Ralph - any movement on that apple shaped light at the end of the tunnel?
Thanks

Just about got it.
I can get Jamstix to trigger Battery in Studio One just fine. I just can't get the transport controls to sync up.
I'll work on that next. _________________ darcyb62 |

Success.
I managed to get everything going.
Battery 3 in Studio One is being triggered by Jamstix 3 in Reaper.
I also have the transport working with Studio One as the master and Reaper as the slave.
Timing is tight on the midi side. I'm not sure how tight the audio is but I'm not using that piece so I've disconnected all the audio connections between the two.
If anybody needs more detail on what I did (on the Studio One side as the reaper/jamstix documentation put together on here is pretty solid) to get this all working let me know.

So while I got this working in Studio One, I still haven't got it fully working in Logic. I can get it to play through Logic but it's not synchronizing correctly yet. I am getting close though.

I wanted to say a big thank you to you guys for putting this together. So far the installation went well and I am working through the tutorial to get this configured for my Mac.
I use both Reaper and Pro Tools 9 so we will see how well it plays with both.
Thanks again! |

| Note, Jamstix 3.5.0 does not seem to work with wine very well, many GUI problems. I'll post something here if it ever gets resolved. Hopefully we are not far away from seeing native OSX version of Jamstix anyway |

I'm running OSX Mountain Lion on my recently bought MAC mini. I installed Jack OSX and started JackPilot. Followed the setup instructions concerning IAC. But when I try to install JamstixWine. I get a message stating that "JackOSX must be installed before you can install JamstixWine."
when I close that window the installation window also closes. What can I do now? |

| oh boy, they must have changed something in JackOSX about the way its installed. I'm not sure what to tell you right now. I don't have ML to test either. When I get home from xmas vacation I will try to find some time to see if I can figure something out. |

Thanks for your concern. FYI I installed the 64 bit version of JackOSX and in fact I am a bass player.
I'm still hoping for a native OSX Jamstix version soon, please Ralph. |

| Sorry man I have no plans to leave Snow Leopard for a variety of reasons, so I can't comment at all. Sorry its not working for you. I would think that if JackOSX is working for you, then it should just work. jackwasio is really designed to work with jackOSX. what version of JackOSX are you using? |
