Hello,
New user of Jamstix 3.5 here. First of all, thanks to the team at Rayzoon because this software is a must have!
Though, I encountered 2 problems:
1) "No Jamstix 64bit"
I am using Win 7 64bit and Reaper 4.31 64bit. In Reaper, I am able to successfully load 64bit VST plugins. For some reason, Jamstix 3.5 64bit is ignored by Reaper. It does not appear in the plugins list. Jamstix 64 has been installed normally as well as the 32bit version. They both reside in their respective folder under the plugins folder which is scanned by Reaper. The first time I launched Reaper after a fresh install of Jamstix, I only saw the 32bit version. Nothing changed after a manual re-scan. Both jamstix folders do contain the license key file. So currently I am using Jamstix 32bit via the "bridged" mechanism.
Couldn't find what's wrong.. Any clue?
2) "Jamstix freezes when manually adding a song part"
This is weird because before writing this post, I did try again and it succeeded. Yet I tried another time and I encountered the following and recurring problem:
When manually adding a song part (Verse, Chorus..) in the song structure when I click on the first default Verse, Jamstix freezes. So what I do is I load the Jamstix VST. Then I did try loading a Kit first and/or specifying a style and a drummer for the first Verse but whatever I do Jamstix ceases to respond as soon as I validate the new part name I try to "add after" the first Verse. The GUI is then completely frozen and I can't even move the plugin window anymore. Though if I play the song in Reaper, I can still hear the sound coming from Jamstix and I see the bar being updated in real time in the bars area. But still can't do anything...
Note: I can create a song with the wizzard and all is working perfectly. Almost because if i try to add another part on the newly created song, the problem is still there.
Any idea what is wrong?
I had a look at the full debug log file but I saw nothing special.
Thank you

Hi. Thanks.
In fact I don't have Reaper 32bit installed. I still can run 32 bit VSTs with Reaper x64 so it's OK indeed.
I can mention that I already tried to run Reaper "as an administrator" and also configured Reaper so that Jamstix is loaded in his own process, but whatever I do, I still don't see the Jamstix 64bit VST and can't add a song part.
If that can help.. |

Sometimes Reaper needs the VSTs manually pointed to and or a full VST rescan?
Also check that the folder the VST is in has not been accidentally made hidden. |

Delete the reaper-vstbridge-x64.ini and the reaper-vstplugins-x64.ini in your userfolder (in reaper-options->show reaper resource-path) and start reaper.
What's your actual plugin path? (preferences-plugins-vst), is this the folder you installed the jamstix3.dll in?
The entry in reaper-vsti should say JAMSTIX3.
hope this helps
EDIT: In the installfolder of Jamstix should be a folder called data. There are the jamstix3.c64 and jamstix3.c32, if the x64 is not there please reinstall jamstix and select 64bit or 32+64bit version.

gpz: make sure REAPER does not 'see' both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Jamstix. You may want to remove jamstix3.dll and copy jamstix.c64 from the data\bin folder to that folder and rename it jamstix3.dll. That is the 64-bit version of the DLL. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hello,
Thanks for your help everyone because things seem pretty OK now.
My bad, I should have guessed (or just read!) a few notes about Reaper. I can't have several VSTs with the same DLL name. Both Jamstix x86 and x64 were installed under their respective folder but both were scanned by Reaper and only one were taken into account. For now, I only keep the 64bit version.
For my second problem (can't add/remove individual song parts because Jamstix 32 or 64 freezes ), I managed to make things work. Still not sure if it is the ultimate solution but what I did is to configure Reaper so that undo states are minimal as far as Jamstix is concerned (there is such an option for each VST). Seems good now!
Though I would point to the Rayzoon team that there is probably a problem/bug somewhere (Reaper? Jamstix?) about the above mentioned mechanism.
Thanks! |

Glad you got it working! Not sure why you need the 'minimal save state' because I don't get that specific problem with it here but it is a good option for JS any way. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
