| Works great with DFH2 (after increasing the number of output channels to 8). Would be nice to have some presets similar to the ones for DFHS. |

| I was thinking of buying DFH2 for use with jamstix. Are there presets for DFH2 available yet? |

We haven't created any mappings yet for DFH2 as promised because we've been busier than anticipated. We also have a mappings thread in the forum to make user-created mappings available.
Making a mapping is really quite simple. You load DFH2 into Jamstix and work through the sound list in the mappings tab, making sure that each sound has a reasonable key mapped in DFH2. You may also want to adjust velocities as needed. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I had a chance to try DFH2 and JS recently.
DFH2... got a prob here that I don't think is just me... and I don't think it is just JS, but I'd like to ask what others are experiencing with DFH2 vsti.
first, yes, good sounds, no prob there...
however, DFH2 vsti, loaded wth the GM kit [since that should map pretty well in JS, right?] seems to spike the cpu use very easily... and spike it to above 90% which casuses drop outs in the triggering coming from JS...
in other words, whenever JS sends it a little complex set of midi notes to deal with, the cpu use spikes and causses these drop outs...
I did try boosting the DFD buffers and setting the performace levels to use more memory in DFH2, but this did not really help much...
Now let me say this is running JS inside Chainer standalone, and DFH2 internal to JS.
And the PC it is on is a P4 3.2 cpu, 4gb's ram with SATA HD's... so it should be fast enough...
I don't think this is directly a JS problem, since if I run DFH2 alone and hit a lot of notes rapidly [to simulate what JS is sending to it] I get the same behaviour.
I have observerd similar cpu spiking in Kontakt 2 drum kits with JS... again, I'm not blaming JS for this.
I just do wonder what these developers are thinking when their VSTi's eat up so much of a powerful cpu [P4 3.2 cpu... what more can you give it?]... I mean, sheeesh... if one vsti requires so much cpu just for drums, what exactly is the point?
In short I'm finding this not very useable with or without JS when asking it to play something more than very basic beat.
By comparison, BFD in all it's glory, rarely uses anythng above 30% cpu and hardly ever even that much.
I'd like to know the experiences of others with DFH2... is it just me or what??? |

Hi Max...
First did you download the Direct-From-Disk extension?
It cuts down the memory use to more then half, And should eliminate any cpu spikes Your having.....CC |

Not 100% sure on the DFD latest version that I have... is it 1.29? I'll have to check... but it should be OK as it's working for other things that use it OK... I'll have to check if there is a newer one yet.. DFD is working of course as I could not really use other vsti's without it...
edited...
hey thanks that was the prob... somehow the DFD ext. must have gotten reset to a previous version... re-installing ver. 1.29 seems to have helped this problem GREATLY! now cpu runs about 22%... whew!
thanks again.... |

Hi Folks,
Has anyone had a change to create mappings for DKFH 2? I've looked around and just can't seem to find any. All I see are DKFH Superior and its variations...
I ask because I cant seem to get it to work (though DR-008 works just fine)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

It works fine here. Make sure to select enough audio outputs in Jamstix to match DFH2. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm not sure how to create a mapping file for DFH2. I do not have a keyboard. Does that leave me out?
What really attracted me to Jamstixs is the feature that allows me to create patterns and arrange them. The jam feature is cool but not too important to me. Also whenI create 8 outputs for DFH2 it only seems to use one of the outputs. And how does recording the drums to a track work>?

That's fine. You'd load DFH2 into Jamstix and then adjust any keys that do not match (this shouldn't be an issue with GM kits in DFH2). Finally you save it with the 'Save' button in the mapping tab as a new mapping.

You have to send sounds in the DFH2 interface to the desired outputs. Remember to save your mapping again when you do that so all those changes are stored.

MIDI Recording -> use host if it supports VSTi MIDI output or use 'Export To MIDI' in the arranger
Audio recording -> use freeze or bounce in the host.

I saw this thread and was intrigued by the Title .
What is DFH 2?
I have DFH Superior and am expecting to here about the release date for DFH Superior 2 any day now but i can't for the life of me understand how people can be having a problem with an unreleased product. So it must be another product then. Could you be talking about EZPlayer? |
