Don't rename the DLL. Just do this:
- load project with JS3
- do a 'Save Song' in JS3 song menu
- remove JS3 from project and add JS 3.5 Beta instead
- load saved song file
- save project to a DIFFERENT name to preserve original
The final 3.5 release will be jamstix3.dll and will load directly into existing projects. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Trying out beta12.
I was fiddling around with 3 parts, decided to delete the last part and got an alert message when right clicking on the last part (the 2nd in order):
"List index out of bounds(2)". |

| Just loaded beta 12 in Windows7 64 bit. Why In Sonar X2 64 bit in the vst folder it shows beta 3.5 as 32 bit? Did I download the wrong setup for beta 12 ? |

@Spikey During the install it asks if you want to install the 32 bit 64 bit and rtas versions. If the 32 bit is first on the list when X2 scans the vst it will be the one that sonar picks. I would suggest that you just delete the 32 bit dll and then run the vst scan.
The 32 bit dll should be in the c:\program files(x86)\cakewalk\vstplugins folder.
Ralph FYI I have noticed that JS 35 x64 is causing occasional clicks and pops when the gui is open in sonar. Even on a minimal project.
Also when installing the Kits under x2 the browse for files dialogue crapped out and caused the display driver to go nuts. I was finally aboe to close them with the alt-f4 keys. After a reboot things settled down and I have been going ok.
I am running on windows 8 x64 with sonar x2 x64 _________________ Tom |

@Ralph: There's something I miss (if it's not there already) and that's a way fo jamstix to prefill the end bar when I want to create a part. I'll try to explain:
Lets' say I have an intro and a verse part in Jamstix already. The song in my DAW is longer than those two parts. Now I want to create a new part after the verse and I already know where it will end in the DAW. Therefore I place the song position marker in my DAW to the place i want the bar to end and choose Create Part in jamstix. Now the right most/end bar is prefilled with the value of the amount of bars until the song position i set in the DAW.
The same would be very handy when you want to change a length of a part.
Sorry if I missed it if it's already implemented, otherwise what do you think about it?
Cheers,
Jens |

Spikey: Sounds like you installed 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Simply delete jamstix35.dll in the 32-bit plugin folder (as TomR suggested) and you're all set.
Jens: Good idea, I'll see if we can do this in a future update _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I've tried to search for this but didn't find an answer to it. I'm using Beta 12 and I guess kmap has been introduced in one of these betas.
What's the difference between a kmap and a j2k file? Both are keymaps, right? kmap is loadable via the "Kit->Load Key Map" and j2k loadable via clicking on the Kit name.
Update: Ok, kmap seems to only contain the MIDI note assignments.
I'm asking since I wanted to modify the "correct" Addictive Drums keymap since by default AD has just one slot (= midi key) for tambourine / cowbells and right now both map type files are mapping these to two different keys.
I have two other questions though.
@Ralph: When loading the j2k-file for Addictive Drums all the MIDI mapped kit piece names are replaced with "MIDI OUTPUT ONLY" so it's not very easy to see for example what Element 36 is mapping to by looking in the file when you want to modify it manually. Is it possible for you to add a comment field for what kit piece each element is mapping to in the j2k file?
Also, when a kit piece is set to only output MIDI the Vol and Pan knobs are deactivated which means there's no way to change the overall volume output for a selected kit piece when outputting only MIDI. Is there another way to do this, except for modifying each and other hit for this kit piece?
I also had another idea. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to just mute a part of a song through right-clicking the part, and being able to mute a bar through right-clicking on it. Sometimes it's great to just let the drums keep silent for a bar to greater effect, without removing the possibility to change my mind at a later stage. |

I'll see what we can do.

VOL and PAN were never adjustable for subhosted or MIDI-driven external plugins (i.e. Addictive Drums) in any version of JS. Please use the plugin controls to set VOL and PAN as desired. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

But when you want the Jamstix drummer to lay back somewhat more or go more intense in a part, which all translates to MIDI velocity, I can't find a good way to do it inside Jamstix. Doing that inside the external plugin is a bad solution since the sequencer is inside Jamstix and follow the parts. You could always do it with automation in the DAW but then you have both the automation and the Jamstix sequencer to modify.
Or is there any other convenient and direct way I've missed? |

Adjusting the song power in JS will also affect MIDI OUT velocities. You can use automation on 'Song Power Level' in the host. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Beta 12 works like a charm here btw, except for the out of bound index I posted about earlier. I just so inspirational and fantastic! |

Updated from beta 10 to beta 12.
I may have moved or deleted something in the interim.
I have all my kits , but all the sounds are missing
What was the path to the 3.5 kits sounds and what are they labeled as?
Thanks
UPDATE: found that I had moved jamstix3 to the D drive
Re-installed to D rive and found the missing 3.5 sounds.
Thanks

Please see if you have an old '\data\sounds' folder somewhere. If so copy the contents to the same folder of the Beta 12. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
