I've tried this with 1.2 and x4-22 in FL Studio 5 and Tracktion 1.
I tell Jamstix to fill every 8 bars in free jam mode. I'm sending a MIDI bass shuffle pattern to Jaxstix. The drum shuffle is great. However, the fills happen on bars 9, 17, 25, etc. I want fills on bars 8, 16, 24, etc. Any thoughts? |

When using X4-22, what number is displayed for Start Bar in the arranger? By changing the number, you can determine the start bar of the auto-fill calculation. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
Thanks for the response; your support is the best.
In X4-22 the Start Bar is set to one. I tried to set it to zero, but it wouldn't go any lower. IIRC (I'm at work right now) I set it to 8 and the first fill didn't happen until bar 16. |

Just set it to zero and you'll get fills at 8, 16, 24 etc. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| IIRC, I tried the down arrow but it wouldn't go below one. Your message leads to me to believe I can type in the box? I'll try it after work. Many thanks for your responses. |

Oops, that's a bug. You can't type in the box but the down arrow should allow you to go to zero.
Please use this special Build with a fix for this issue for now.

This Build is newer than X4-23, which we just released but you should still install the X4-23 first because it has updates to the manual, 41 new fills and intros as well as a few stock input velocity maps. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
I downloaded x4-23 and build 1659 and installed them in that order. When I loaded 1659 into FL Studio, I was able to set the Start Bar to zero. However, when I press Play in FLS, the Start Bar gets set to one and the fills start on bar 9. I started a new project in both FLS and Tracktion 1 with the same results.
I also noticed when I tried free jam mode in Tobybear's MiniHost that the Start Bar would jump from zero to whatever bar I happened to start playing the keyboard. For example, I press play, wait until bar 7 to play the keyboard and the Start Bar would jump to 7. Fills would dutifully start 8 bars later.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I should delete an .ini file or something. |

We'll check that out

If you are using free or KW jam then Jamstix will set the start bar as you said because it's trying to be smart and guesses that fills should be based on the bar you started playing. We'll take a look at that and will probably implement an overwrite, such as when you manually change the start bar it should not change it again for that session. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I wondered if the start bar change I saw in MiniHost might be a feature but I thought I'd tell you anyway. When I think about it, the behavior in FLS is consistent. The MIDI bass line in FLS starts on bar 1, beat 1 so Jamstix changes the Start Bar to 1. Maybe a checkbox is needed to toggle between "smart" and manual mode.
At any rate, I thank you for your quick responses and an excellent product. Jamstix is one of the best supported software products ever. |

Just released X4-24 which stops changing the start bar for a session if you change the value manually once in the arranger. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
