You need to create audio for Kick snare etc.Kick on 2 snare 3 toms 4 etc.In Jamstix's kit set kick to output 2 snare to 3 etc.In the kick insert audio, go audio from Jamstix and underneith js3 out 2.In snare insert the same just js3 out 3 etc.I have percussion and ambience both on js3 out 8.I then have a drum submix drum insert audio in and have that track armed with a glue things together comp in there to with a limiter set to 0 ceiling.I put a utility plug in set to invert on each insert to get the volumes right.Eq on kick 65hz boost +11.db In 5K region boost 8db.Comp ratio 4.57 attack 5.47.Release 325 with makeup gain peaking around 6 db.Snare EQ 217hz boost 5 db,boost a bit around 1.70k and 5k regions to. and comp ratio 2.5 attack 7ms release 1.00s and so on,just a few of my settings,ABS floor toms EQ and comp are pretty good just set the make up gain in comp to around 6 db with the threshold button . Just EQ on hi hats,none on ride.EQ on cymbals,and percussion.Hope this helps a bit.Save it as a template in live options file/folder save current set as default.[/img]

I've sent it.Not sure it'll work though.Every time I've installed Jamstix I've had to remap it.The audio inserts,and live effects should hopefully save you some time though.
Anyway good luck.

hi, im having a bit of a problem with the latest jamstix version on ableton live also latest. on win7 64 (maybe that's the problem ?)
jamstix seems to crash ableton live randomly. sometimes it when i start it, sometime when i quit it and even during use.
im having no issues with other vsti's


edit: i think the problem is solved now.
i run live in compatibility mode- Vista SP2. and in as admin

Hello,

i have problems to trigger parts with midi notes in Ableton live:

- Host Ableton Live 8.3
- Artura Laboratory as midi controller
- JS 3.3
- Control midi channel: 11

I have configure some knobs an the controller to send some midi notes on the control channel 11 to switch between parts during a live performance and assign them to the parts (midi learn works fine). Nothing happens when i push the the buttons during live looping. The Live Loop Advance trigger and the Fill triggers even does not work.

The same setup works fine with other Hosts. Have tested Cubase 6 and LiveProfessor 2.3.4 beta.

Hi,

i have found a workaround für the trigger-part-problem in Ableton:

Don't choose a specific midi control channel in Jamstix, leave it to 'ALL'. You can filter out a midi channel on the Ableton channel if need it.

I am really close to figuring this out but I'm getting hung up.

I want to have it so when I change a scene in live it picks an appropriate live loop in jamstix.

i have tried doing it with by setting a midi note and sequencing that one note to play...and jamstix is getting the midi signal (I can see the request in the info bar, and the yellow midi in light is blipping once for the note). The problem is that when I do it this way...jamstix won't actually play drums...I think because of the midi note playing. I have tried putting the sequenced note in anotther track but it doesn't seem to work either.

I have also tried just doing a program change within live but can't get that to work either. What bank/prog number should I be using if I do it this way?


It doesn't really matter if I use prog change or midi note...as long as it switches the loop. Let me know the best way to go about this.

On an unrelated note... Is it just me? Or does one big 13 page thread for Ableton not very effective for seeking information... Wouldn't it make more sense to have an ableton section (in stead of a sticky) with individual posts based on issues? And the same for all of the other DAWS? Just my opinion.

Yes. live is playing. The only way i can get JS to see the incoming midi note is to have JSs track armed. I basically have 1 note in a sequence at the beginning of the scene. So when I hit that scene it triggers that note. I have tried having that small sequence in the actual JS track...but I think that is stopping JS from playing properly. I tried moving the single notes to another track...and routing the midi in to JS...but again...JSs track needs to be armed.

In both cases the status window of JS actually acknowledges that it has recieved the request for X section...but it just doesn't seem to change the loop...either at the end of the loop or right away when I selct the 'jump bars' in options.

Is the note you're playing in the right octave? Live's C3 is actually C4 (or maybe the other way round )

Jamstix is getting the message to play...because the status window of jamstix is saying that it received the message to play 'Intro' or 'Verse'...it just isn't switching loops.

Instead of doing a lot of unnecessary trouble shooting...let me rephrase the issue.

How do I set up ableton live so when I change a scene...it switches the liveloop being played?

Hi Everyone,

I just installed Ableton Live 9 Suite, and am having trouble getting Jamstix 4 set up properly. I would like to have Jamstix drive drums in Kontakt in Arrangement view. Can someone please direct me to one of the posts in this thread, or elsewhere, that explains the settings I need in Jamstix and Ableton to have this happen? I would really appreciate it.

Same as in session view. You need to have Jamstix on one track, with midi out enabled in the options. Then on another track you have your Kontakt drummer, and select midi in from Jamstix. Need to set input on.

I sometimes use that setup to create a really big drum sound with both playing at the same time.

I think that there is an issue with the way I have midi out set up on the Jamstix track. I generated a song and press play on the Ableton transport. I see the midi out within the Jamstix GUI blinking green as the data is generated, but there is no indication within Ableton that the midi is going out of that track or into the Kontakt track. In other words, the "MIDI" at the top right of the window doesn't blink, and the little green meter next to Jamstix in the device area seems to have no activity (and, of course, there is no sound yet ). Any idea what setting within Jamstix, or more likely the Ableton track that Jamstix is on, that I need to change to get the midi to move between the tracks?
