| Kevin this is just something I remembered about SX but I think I had to enable record monitoring to hear vstis playback. It's been a long time but I remember something having to do with record monitoring driving me nuts until I finally figured out what was going on. I don't know if this applies but it can't hurt to check. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. |

| Ok looked at that but no joy, I can hear the drums ok if I click on them, I've emailed Ralph so hopefully he will get involved and put me right, It's got to be something daft like when i first bought JS nothing would work and it turned out to be that the licence ( license ) key was spelt wrong ( or right depending on if your English or American )thanks again for your time, Kevin |

| shadowfax_ wrote: | | Hi and thanks for joining the discussion, If i go into drum module mode the controls at the top of the song sheet disappear, so can't press unlock/lock..however, on the tutorial video it is clear that Ralph is not in drum module mode..ie normal jam button is pressed in...and the lock/unlock button is on"unlock" then he presses lock to play the midi file..non of this happens for me..any other suggestions welcome..nothing is to obvious..thanks again..Kevin |
Hi shadowfax
Sorry, I should have read the whole thread, I thought you were trying to play a whole midi track in Cubase.
I will now have a play with what you are actually trying to do, and report back.

One more thought, when you load the midi clip are you hitting play and letting JS compose at least one bar before you save as a style preset ?
If you save the style preset without composing a bar or so you are effectively saving a blank style.
Other than suggesting you study the video again i'm all out of ideas and i know zip about Cubase so i can't help out there.
Hope you get it working !!
It really is worth the effort so stick with it, it will no doubt turn out to be something really simple
Cheers |

Hi
I have never before used this feature in Jamstix , but have just followed the video to the letter.
The tutor doesn't mention the obvious, that you have to click the play button in Cubase etc. to hear the groove.
Again, sorry to state the obvious, but only trying to help. _________________ john-studio64

Hi, I have to thank studio 664 for stating the obvious !!! ( not obvious to an idiot muso like me tho ) I've got to start Cubase before I press the button in JS..seems so damn silly now but I'm one of those people that expects to follow a tutorial and then it works,if it doesn't then I'm up against a brick wall, thank you everybody who joined in to help, I want to stick with JS because it's the most drummer like vsti out there it's just quite a steep learning curve for me in particular. to everybody..thank you, Kevin
while I'm here does anybody know how to delete the imported midi files ?
because I've got a big mess now..I'm sure it's obvious somewhere but I can't find it.. |

| a_zimuth wrote: | | It doesn't matter what position the Lock button is in when setting this up but for it to play the Lock has to be closed. In that video the DAW/Host software is running and Ralph is just locking and unlocking JS from it. That is why the Lock button is acting like a Play/Stop button. I just tried it in 64 bit and it does work properly. |

And i know its been covered but if you just leave the lock button pressed in and use the start stop function of your DAW you should be good.
HTH's cheers |
Sometimes its hard to see the wood for the trees
Glad you got it working.
I don't think the actual midi files get saved, just the style / groove you create from them ( but i could be wrong on this )
You can delete those from the styles or grooves folders inside
Jamstix3/data/ on the drive you've installed JS3 to.
