Installation:
The installer only works, when the folder I want the dll to be installed to already exists. Creating new folders with the installer doesn't work.
The readme said I should place the auth file where the dll is. However the plug says it can't find the auth in the program (x86) folder...
It's either x86 or x64 for both, I'd say: when the dll is a x64 dll, the program install shall be in a x64 path, too...? |

| I'm having to run Cubase as Administrator, otherwise the GUI doesn't initialise and I just get a white box with the text "Error initializing plugin (). Check link file C:\Users\<my-username>\Documents or reinstall Jamstix." |

| So what is the difference, if any, between Audio M8 and the direct audio input analysis? Is there any sort of look ahead feature? |

Only difference is an additional smoothing algorithm we implemented in JS3.5 _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| So how does it work? Does it use the audio input levels from my sound card? can it use the output of a specific track in my sequencer? |

It analyzes the audio sent by the host. If you enable your sound card input as the input of a track then it will be sent to JS. Depending on your host you can also add JS to a bus track that gets a submixed audio signal from other tracks. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Sorry Ralph- Trying to wrap my head around it. So if I drop JS in the track bin in Sonar X1 for a bass track. I then set up a separate track to receive the audio out from JS, it will analyze the source input from the bass track and adjust the velocity? |

Ralph just got home from a 13 hr. shift so I can't test extensively but 2 things I noticed right off:
1) 3.5 x64 Beta creates 1 vsti track + 16 stereo send tracks instead of 1 vsti track and 8 stereo send tracks in Reaper like 3.3 did. :CORRECTED
2) 'Adding Cymbal Wash' and similar functions in the tick menu causes the GUI to become unresponsive. I'll do some more testing tomorrow. :MY FAULT
The new GUI is great. I really like that the player and style elements are differentiated by color now. Kudos to your graphics team/person, whatever the case may be.

I'll check that out.

Sounds like you have JS stay-on-top in which case there is likely a dialog box hidden behind it. Alt-tab to see it and continue or, better yet, disable stay-on-top for JS. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Initial testing on Studio One V2.06
1) install was a bit rough. after manually copy over the license file, I got a few access violations from JS3. It refused to follow the host clock and 1 Studio One hang. Restarting studio one seem to solve most if not all of that behavior.
2) I started to play with JS3 driving other VSTi drum modules like BFD2 or EZdrummer and noticed the following: If I load a drum set that was intended to drive an external module ( like BFD2) ( I realize that this is not really an option with the 64 bit beta, but was striving to get drum key maps to better line up with the external modules) anyway... BUG: after loading BFD2 as a set JS3 turns off its sounds, but when re-selecting an Internal JS3 drum-set it does not output sound anymore. It takes a reboot of the host to get it to come back.
If hosting will not be part of JS3 64bit, can we get an un-load all JS3 drums and just load the proper external drum set mapping?
Thanks

Hi Ralph,
I didn't have Jamstix pinned on top but I found that I was trying to use tick menu incorrectly. I wasn't highlighting a cell FIRST and then adding a snare roll or cymbal crescendo. Why this was causing Jamstix to lock up I don't know but since I started using the function correctly I haven't been able to recreate the problem even when doing it incorrectly. Sorry for the false alarm.
I did uncover another problem while trying to solve the previous one however. If I use the Bar Preview, once activated it cannot be deactivated.

I was able to run JS3.3 as non-privileged user without any problem (apart from those associated with running a 32-bit plugin in a 64-bit host). I do not want to have to run Cubase as Administrator, so this would be a show-stopper for me. |
