I'm sure it's something simple that I'm just not seeing, but how do I add something like a "Pre=Chorus" to my song if I didn't create one when I made the song?

For example, if my song was: IVVCCVVBCCVVCCCCE

How do I create a "P" for my song?

The letter P triggers a Pre-chorus.

My question is, "Can I create & Add a 'Pre-Chorus' once the song is already built"? I know I can "Add a New Part", but from what I see, there's no definition of what that part is other than 'Intro, Normal or Ending", is there?

I realize I can build a song & use a "P" to have a "Pre-Chorus", but that assumes I was actually planning that far ahead. If you knew me, you would know that's just CrAzY talk. Shocked All joking aside, I'd love to think that I always plan that far ahead, but I don't "Always"...

It would be great to be able to add a specific type of "Part" to a song. If I mess up (something I do quite regularly) or decide, "I should add a 'Pre-Chorus' right here", I have to either manually modify everything in the new part that I add or completely start all over & build another song "from scratch".

I always seem to find some very nice rhythm patterns with JS & then decide to add a "Pre-Chorus" or something & I don't want to have to give up what I've already got going & build another song from scratch. To me, part of the "joy of Jamstix" is that it builds different rhythm parts for a song, even if I chose the exact same parameters. If it didn't do that, it would be a "one trick pony" & only have 20 beats or something.

Sorry for rambling. IS there a way to just add a specific type of part (such as a "Bridge" or "Pre-Chorus") to a song once it's built? If not, would that be a feature that could be added to a future release? It would certainly be a great addition to an already great product.

We're planning on adding these part types for a future update. For now, just add a part manually, set it to the desired length/rep and then set Min Power of the 'Power hand' in the brain to 50%.

Is the difference between 'Chorus' & 'Pre-Chorus', the Min Power of "Power hand" in the brain?

Currently, JS does this for PreChorus:

- length=half verse length
- reps=1
- TransitionFill=Yes
- RepetitionFill=No
- 'Power hand' MinPower=50
- 'Power hand' Sound=Hats 50%

Even if I'm not a drummer nor a developper, I enjoy seeing this kind of "secret formula" that makes JS so great. There must be hundreds of those hidden in the code...

Thanks for sharing Ralph !

That was EXACTLY my next question. Is there anywhere those types of things are "spelled out"? I, for one (or actually, "for two", as the Three Stooges would say), would REALLY like to know what makes up every one of the types.

I gotta tell ya, I just LOVE JS3. THANK YOU!!! Now, if you would port it to Mac VST, AU & RTAS, I'd be a VERY happy camper. For now, I'd settle for knowing those "super-secret" formulas that make up the different types.

Any more of those that you could share would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I have been wishing for a while that there was a way to print out all the brain settings for a particular bar. I guess this topic was the catalyst I needed to finally mention it.

It would be useful to compare two bars to see what the differences are.

Sorry if this thread is a bit old, but did the ability to insert specific new parts after the fact ever get added?

I guess a workaround is to just add one of each part type when I first run the wizard, just in case...

Any other thoughts about it? If I want to add a breakdown (or any other part type) after the song has been created, how do most people do that?

Part menu support for all song builder part types is on the list for JS4.

Until JS4 comes out, I have the same question ... or is the answer obvious, just rebuild the song again?

If the latter - does it make sense to keep all options open when 1st building a song by including all possible part types even if they are not initially expected to be used (P,X.B, etc.) ... then for the ones not used when the song is first created - just set their length to "zero" bars, or drag them down to the end of the song where they are out of the way?
