I'm a little confused about what I need to put into jamstix3.ini in order to support the CC4 handling of hihats and chokes. Is it now neccessary to add a section to jamstix3.ini or does the provided kit maps provide that already? If I need to add them, what would the settings need to be for those two to handle hi hats and chokes optimally?

This only applies to external plugins. You'll need a section for the DLL:

[DLL name without extension]
CC4=1 ;enable continuous hihat control
HihatController=4 ;only needed if it is not #4
CH_15=x ;choke MIDI key for crash 1
CH_16=y ;choke MIDI key for crash 2
CH_17=z ;choke MIDI key for crash 3
...

Here is a reference of the cymbal #s above:

15=Crash 1
16=Crash 2
17=Crash 3
18=Crash 4

19=Splash 1
20=Splash 2
21=Splash 3

22=China 1
23=China 2
24=China 3
25=China 4

Thanks for the reply Ralph....

A couple more questions...

1 - So that goes into jamstix3.ini?

2 - This is needed even if you already provided other mapping files for SSD4 and SD2?

3 - so the hi hat operations are completely based on CC4? Then the other midi note parameters are for cymbal chokes?

4 - Am I to understnad that I need to find out the actual midi note numbers for various cymbal chokes for SSD4 and SD2 and then configure those for x, y and z as you explained above? How do I make sure I'm correlating the right numbers for choke that is aligned with the corresponding cymbal midi note number?

5 - What does CH_15 mean?

6 - Since I'm using OSX and don't have the actual DLL's installed here, I'm actually using your SSD4 and SD2 kit maps, and my jamstix3.ini file has NoSubHostLoad=1 set so that no DLL gets loaded. But I don't know what the actual name of the dll would need to be, nor do I know for sure if Jamstix will be doing what needs to be done in that situation to send the proper midi out over IAC to the other DAW. Understand?

Yes, to 1, 2 and 3.

CH_15 would be Crash 1, so you just need to see which MIDI key is set for Crash 1 and get the choke key for that key from SSD to put after the equal sign.

I hope I understand this right. You do have SSD4 and SD2 installed on the other machine, right? If so, take the DLL names from there. JS won't look for those DLLs but will use them to look up the data section you enter in the ini file so that the MIDI is generated correctly.

yes I do have those on the Mac, but they are AU versions, not DLL versions. Hopefully the name is the same I guess.

But the question is, I have NoSubHostLoad=1 in jamstix2.ini to avoid trying to load the DLL locally into jamstix. So even though JS reports, no plugin loaded, will it still somehow know that WOULD have been the DLL to send to?

Also I saw the following entries on another post, what is ClosedHatSet?

Code:

[Superior Drummer]
CC4=1
ClosedHatSet=42,61,62,63,64,65

No, JS doesn't have that.
