Hi all - I LOVE that JS has the ability to hit hi-hats in various stages of "open-ness". Awesome!

I'm looking for another sound, of a hi hat being actively closed immediately upon being hit with a stick. I"m guessing I would need to go outside of JS to get that effect? If so, can you Stick-deities make any suggestions? Doesn't have to be TOP of the line $$ (these are just fun for family and friends, and demos for my band), but it's a cool enough effect that I'd probably spend a bit to get it.

Now, if JS has that ability already - woo-hoo!

Thanks -

I think you mean an open hat choke? This is done with an open hat followed by a 'hihat foot close' event a 16th note later.

Also, the JS3 hihat has a 'shanked' open sound option, which may sound even better depending on genre.

Holy cow, I should have KNOWN I'd be able to do all this from within JS3! Can't wait to get home and try this out.

Thanks for this. I'm sure many people already figured this out, but like you I wasn't one of them. Now I also know how to do this. I've trying for a long time & been playing around with different combinations of hi-hats to get this sound. Who knew all we had to do was ask?? Isn't that cheating or something? Shocked Thanks again.
