Still working with JS3 Demo and limited feel for how these two systems could work together. Perhaps they will always have limited potential given the relatively 'closed' nature of StylusRMX.

Once you have played a song through once, without stopping, using Jamstix and presumably Stylus in 'kit' mode, you can export the midi out of Jamstix as one great big midi file and drop it onto a track on your DAW.

I do not know if the demo version of Jamstix allows this - the full version does.

This midi could then be used to drive other drum modules but as the midi mapping will probably be different, to some degree or other, you would have to sort that out somehow.

You can also use Jamstix in midi output mode only - not hosting any sounds itself. Pipe this midi to various tracks in your DAW.

Lots of additional time invested and positive work with Jamstix3 Demo, but now very lost in terms of understanding where the Demo limitations are having major impact.

I could swear I have had some cases in which I was sub-hosting StylusRMX and playing whole songs into RMX Kits, Slice Mode, 8 tracks enabled in Reaper for both JS3 and RMX. I have not yet successfully mapped JS3 keys but have all of the GS MIDI assignments and have verified them from Axiom Pro61 keys (Ch1), also its Pads (Ch10).

Am I simply not going to get this working well until purchasing JS3 ?

Thanks,
Tom B

Subhosting will work just as the full version in the demo. Only MIDI output/export is limited in the demo.

Thank-you for reassurance! Starting from scratch, it's taken some time to sort out GS MIDI, controller keys/pads, and JS3 key mapping.
Some fun results working thru some StylusRMX Kits using JS3 songs.

.... keyboardist to drummer so late in the game ? Idea Who'da thunk it

Regards,
TB

Lots of encouragement from Ralph Z and downloaded JS3XL+Jamcussion+AIPak yesterday. All is working and now ready to start the serious learning.
Hope for help here as needed and avoid distracting RZ from more great JS enhancements .... like Flamenco (can't wait!).

Geez !! ... already looking at BonzoPak. Great sounds Cool

Since you can drag the midi Jamstix creates into a track in your DAW, you can then use that midi pattern in Stylus RMX with its groovelock function. This is great for getting the feel of some of the patterns in Stylus to work better with the Jamstix drumming.

Will give this a good workout. I was trying to do some variations in reverse .... taking MIDI 'captures' from StylusRMX to Reaper and trying MIDI Jam in JS3. Didn't have much success, but that's my lack of experience with both programs; as well as drumming in particular.

Hope to see more successes from you and others using both products.

Thanks and regards,
Tom B
