Hi,

In a project file that I've been working on without problems up until now, the midi out function of JS3 (latest version) stops transmitting at a specific bar. Earlier today, it was playing back fine past this point, but now (even after re-booting the PC), midi out continues to stop at the same bar.

In the JS3 interface, it is still displaying the drums that should be playing, and if I pause and mouse over the drums, they still sound.

I'm using Cubase 32-bit on Windows 7 32-bit, with the midi out from JS3 pointed towards SSD4.

Thanks.

On its way.

The only thing different that I can think of that I tried doing this morning, was automating the "business" of the drummer in one part, using a midi file to draw in controller changes. I don't recall which controller I selected from the drop down (maybe mod wheel).

Could this have any effect?

As an addendum to the above, the midi out stops well in advance of the point in the piece where I'd added the mod wheel automation - so it does not coincide.

Log looks fine but I noticed that the bar position is in the upper 900s. Is this what your host is showing?

The fact that it is so close to 1000 bars when the problem occurs cannot be coincidental. We never tested such situations so it will take a bit to investigate.

Work-around: export song MIDI and drive SSD4 with that data instead of JS.

So try playing back the song (even though nothing is being heard), and then try exporting after a full run-through?

Any idea what impact the mod wheel automation might have had? As it was playing back fine past the 1000 bar mark this morning (I'll check and see if I have a backup, to see if it still works), but now it drops out at 994 every time.

Thanks

Yes, full play-through and the 'Export MIDI'.

Actually, can you do a "Save Song" in JS3 and send me that file?

Will do, just letting it run through right now, so that I can record a copy of the midi. Just want to make sure I don't accidentally lose anything while trying to get this working again.

Interestingly, after running through the whole piece with the midi track recording, JS3 continued to play midi past the former stop point.

And, now without recording (and the midi region disabled), it continues to play back beyond that point.

Not sure what difference it made, but it is working again.

I've also just sent through the song file.

One thing to watch out for, there are a number of time changes, tempo changes, etc. in the file (the time signature changes are reflected in the JS song).
