1. When I rewind to beginning of song in Reaper, the Jamstix position stays the same, conversely if I rewind in Jamstix, Reaper stays put.
2. When clicking a bar in the Jamstix timeline (is that what it's called?), can that move the Reaper play cursor? |

I'm a little confused. I use Reaper and when I move my Reaper cursor JS plays from wherever I am even if in JS or Reaper?
I'm in Normal Jam mode in JS and
Reaper/File/Project settings/Project settings /Timebase for items/envelopes/markers:Beats ,position length and rate) |

JS will play correctly in sync with Reaper - no problems. But While Reaper is stopped, the positioning seems to be decoupled.
I was wondering if while stopped:
1. The rewind / forward controls in Reaper / Jamstix could be made to affect the other.
2. When clicking on a measure in Reaper / Jamstix, the position of the other is affected. |

I follow you exactly. I have been spending the past month on and off working on JS and Repear project and what you are indicating is very apparent when working between the two programs on a big project where all the drum changes are being carefully choreographed.
So while I actully have bigger problems with JS/Reaper (which I apparently am the only one - see the Reaper support thread above), this would be a nice touch. Lets see what Ralph has to say. |

Moving the position of REAPER from JS is not possible due to VST limitations. Moving JS from a stopped REAPER is something I'll have to look into. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Jamstix 3.2.1 Beta 4 is now available with an option to have Jamstix stay synched to the host position even if the host is stopped. If you want to try this out, use the Beta 4 and add this line in the [General] section of your jamstix3.ini:
AlwaysSync=1
If you guys like it, I'll have this as a GUI option in the final release. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Awesome! Thank you!
Testing - first impressions:
The Jamstix transport stays synced with the host position while the host is stopped. Excellent! This helps me easily find the JS bar that corresponds with a position in the Reaper timeline. That's my main motivation for this feature.
It appears that the Jamstix position is locked with Reaper. I cannot change Jamstix positions by clicking in the Jamstix timeline. Is it possible to allow the host to position Jamstix but also allow Jamstix-only positioning by clicking in the Jamstix timeline?
I think this is useful addition to the JS configuration. I'll definitely use it.
Thanks again! |

You'll have to unlock JS from REAPER to use the JS timeline with this setting. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Love the idea, I'll try it out to see how it works here. Not sure how to "unlock", because can't always stay synced to the DAW when working, but will figure it out |

OK, how do I do that??? It there a simple workflow or do I need to go back and remove this alignment from the ini??
Had to go back to ini file to remove the option. My workflow had stopped completely when it was locked in synch with Reaper. So definitatey need the option to synch and unsynch. |

Just click the button with the padlock on it. It’s in the upper left area of Jamstix3, beneath the MIDI JAM button and to the right of the Song Power knob. |

I found that this option works really well when I have my external midi controller transport controls mapped in Reaper as:
Forward = "move to next marker / project end"
Rewind = "move to previous marker / project start"
and then i place markers in Reaper everywhere there is a start of a new part in Jamstix.
Alternatively:
Forward = move forward by one measure
Rewind = move backward by one measure
Will let me move between Jamstix bars using my midi controller.
Thanks again for this feature! |
