|
|
I've just installed Jamstix 3 demo to give it a spin, and don't seem to be having much luck with it. I follow the tutorial video and can get the thing to play using the top kit in the wizard, but as soon as I start changing options (you know, to test it) notes start missing (I assume due to the limited kits included with the demo). Also selecting almost any other option in the wizard results in very broken results, sometimes only the kick playing, sometimes only cymbals... even though there are a lot more notes being displayed in the bottom window as it is playing.
So, has something gone wrong, or am I doing it wrong? Or is it just a simple case that the demo is very heavily crippled by lack of samples (or too much freedom with options without the appropriate samples to back them up?)
I'm not having a whine, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. Thanks!
Also - I installed to the default location the installer wanted to use (in C but had to set my host to detect plugins in that location - simply copying the DLL to my regular VST plugin folder didn't work (Jamstix loaded but no sound played). Would there be any problems installing directly to my regular VST plugin folder, or is installing into C: a requirement? |

Hi there,
Your install is fine, location-wise. The full version asks you for two locations, data and plugin so you can place it properly for your system.
Concerning the sound issue: do you have red crosses over notes in the bar editor? If so, move your mouse over them and read the reason in the status line. If it is 'No Sound...' then it's due to samples not in the demo. Loading the 'Standard' kit from the rock folder should not give you missing sound problems.
Let me know if this helps. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph, that was just what I needed to hear - I've been playing with it since you responded and am blown away
Two quick questions before I buy. Sorry if these are obvious, I just want to make sure:
1) In the full version can you create your own kits with your own samples?
2) Is the breakbeat expansion included in the Jamstix Studio version, or is it a separate purchase?
Thanks! |

1) You cannot directly use your own samples in Jamstix. However, you can subhost a sample player with your own samples in JS.
2) "Breakbeat" is not included in the sale due to its low price. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
