Hi,
I was previously under the impression that I could assign my own samples to the kit pieces. I was trying to do that and I think I was wrong. If so, please tell me how I can do it. Do I have to put the samples in a folder where Jamstix will see them first?

What I want to do is build a kit that has a lot of glitchy electronic sounds. I don't just mean electronic drum sounds but something like this song...

I do realize that I can drive something like Groove Agent One with Jamstix and put the samples in that. Unfortunately, The MIDI is (I think) the one thing that does not work with the Steinberg VST Bitbridge (I also know about jBridge). I also know that I could drag and drop the complete MIDI from Jamstix to a Cubase MIDI track for GAO.

I guess my real two questions are:
1. Is there a way I can assign my own samples to kit pieces?
2. Have you thought about making a kit sample pack with a bunch of glitchy, processed, beeps, squeeks, etc.?

Sincerely,
J.L.

A weird electronic kit is on our minds but did not elicit much response in a polling (long time ago though).

Jamstix cannot use your own samples. Try loading a 32-bit sample player into JS via subhosting to bypass the MIDI out wrapper issue.

OK. So MIDI to GAO won't work but I should be able to find a free "sample player" VSTi and use that as a "subhost". I'll check the manual for the routing setup.
Anyone have any recommendations for a free VSTi to use to do this?
Thanks!
J.L.

If you haven't found one yourself yet try

Clicking here!

and just type in drum sampler in the search box (you can refine your search to only free ones)...there are a bunch of them!

Thanks for the info. I did use that KVR search. Awesome tool. I didn't find anything decent in the free category. I ended up installing the 32 bit version of Cubase and using Groove Agent. Works very well.
I appreciate the response though!
Sincerely,
J.L.
