Hi,

I've imported a Groove Monkey midi clip in 6/8 time and am using it as a basis for the whole song.I've only put 1 verse in the song builder, as I'm going to create the structure (verse, choruses etc)individually by adding parts in the song sheet as I go along (using the Groove Monkey clip throughout).
To see how things will sound, I've set the verse at 4 bars long, and to repeat 30 times, and also checked the 6/8 tab.Ive enabled 'allow different time signatures' and set Sonar to 6/8 time.
Jamstix plays only every other bar in 6/8 time-the 2nd,4th,6th etc bar has a random series of notes vaguely matching the proceeding bar and a pause before it resumes the 6/8 timing again for the next bar, presumably as it's gone back to 4/4 again?
Am I missing something?
I have quite a few songs in 6/8 ,so this is proving very frustrating, much as I'm loath to say that, as I love this program.
Cheers.

Please UNcheck 'Allow Time Sig Changes' in JS3, then do a 'Reset Song' in the song menu and the problem should be gone.

Sorted!Thanks Ralph.
Just curious, but if I wanted to use an imported clip, say in 6/8 again, but then needed a Jamstix beat in 4/4 in the same song, how would I go about this, as that's what I thought the 'Allow Time Signature Changes' tab was for?I know in the song sheet one must mark the time signature of the bar.I'm confused.
I suppose what I'm really asking is what is the 'Allow Time Sig Changes' check box for?
And one other question if you don't mind, but what practical uses are there for moving the various pieces of kit around in the kit view?
I like the idea of the drummer having to compensate by playing other parts of the kit -if, for example, the snare is moved beyond his reach - but presumably the kit will have to stay like that for the whole song, unless I open more than one instance of Jamstix?

Cheers

If you use more than one time signature in your song then you want to :

- Check ‘Allow Time Sig Changes’

- For every time sig change in your host, there must be a part change in JS at the exact same time.

- Each part in JS must have its proper time sig set in the part length edit box.

Rearranging the kit is more fun than serious business. We use it to illustrate the AI of Jamstix. However, it can come in handy for a quick forcing of sound replacement (for the whole song) or also to make transitions harder/easier for a specific drummer model.
