I'm finally transferring to windows 7 (from XP) and have the 2 disc 32 or 64 bit version.I've read that a lot of people are experiencing problems with Jamstix using Sonar 64 bit.I'm using Sonar VS,a lite version that comes with the vs100 controller and am wondering whether it best I install windows 7 32 bit as Jamstix was running fairly smoothly in XP 32 bit.
Have most of the issues with Windows 7 64 bit in Sonar been rectified now?
I'm confused by all this bit bridge or J bridge talk Shocked
Obviously I have a 64 bit capable pc.

Jamstix should run fine for you. A good fall-back would be to install Sonar-64 AND Sonar-32 on Windows 7-64. Jamstix has no troubles running in 32-bit hosts under 64-bit OS.

Hi,
I am just curious about your computer specs. If you don't have more than 3GB of RAM, I am not sure you will benefit from installing a 64 bit OS. You could actually end up with a slower system.
Sincerely,
J.L.

J.L these are the specs

- CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.50GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD53 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION **
- RAM: Kingston HyperX Blue 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hiper 212 Plus
- Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to PC's,but my friend who builds them said it's pretty good for my budget

Cheers

Hi,
Yes that is a pretty good system. I do think you should use a 64 bit operating system with it. As bar as installing 32 bit or 64 bit Sonar, if you don't have any 64 bit plug-ins, I would install the 32 bit version of Sonar. Which is, basically, what Ralph already said. I just wanted to make sure the computer would benefit from the 64 bit operating system.
HTH
Sincerely,
J.L.
