I've been using Jamstix since late 2006. So, I've been through all three major releases (on JS3.1.2 now). I've always been somewhat confused by drums and JS has given me the ability to quickly insert drum styles to compliment the musical ideas I've wanted to experiment with. As such, I've really just tweaked the standard library styles, with player variations, and haven't really learned to program JS.
Now I'm finally starting to program my own grooves and I'm really enjoying it and learning a lot.
Unfortunately, I'm also trying to migrate from SONAR 8.5 (32-bit) to X1 (64-bit), and JS3 just doesn't seem to play very well at all when trying to save new bars in the bar editor. I don't use a lot of plug-ins, but JS3 is my one and only drum VSTi. I really look forward to a 64-bit version being released. Once JS3 and Reaktor are 64-bit I will be completely bit-bridge free--can't wait.
Great job with the product and its expansions, Ralph. Love your concept, your customer service, and you. Thanks!

| I get an access violation message, but nothing saves. I can continue using JS though. |

OK. Tried it. Now the interface disappears and X1 won't produce any sound from JS, eventually causing X1 to hang (I have to kill it).

Reaktor 5.6.0 released today = 64-bit! One down, one to go... Any news from the Sonar guys, Ralph?

| Installed the latest hotfix (Build 255). I still get the access violation error when trying to save a part. I wonder if this is a bit bridge thing (?) |

| I'd recommend using Reaper as Jamstix 3 works brilliantly in either Reaper 32-bit or 64-bit versions. Reaper 4 is to be released very soon and it's Beta version is also fantastic. You can download it and try it out for yourself but obviously pay for it if you decide you like it. Their forum is very helpful - takes a little while to get used to but definitely worth it. You can have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed at the same time. Files saved in one will open fine in another. I am using the 64-bit version practically all the time and have zero problems with any of my vsts. |

You can run both the 32 and 64 bit versions of SONAR side by side too but being 64 bit native would be a benefit so that bridging didn't need to occur. I prefer jBridge instead of SONAR's native BitBridge.
Even Reaper uses bridging to use a 32 bit VSTi in a 64 bit host; no way around it but 64 bit native would be nice.
Personally I don't have any problems running Jamstix with SONAR X1 or 8.5.3 or any of my other DAWS like reaper or Studio One Pro.
Shame there's not an RTAS version for Pro Tools.
Can it be that hard Ralph. it's a genuine question as I haven't a clue what's really involved.
Still 64 bit VSTi is my wish right now for Jamstix. |

Yeah. I may end up installing the 32-bit version of X1 too. I don't have jBridge on my PC and I'm not going to buy it in the hopes that it will run my one and only 32-bit plug-in (JS3).
So, you can guess my opinion on switching to Reaper...

Nor do I--works like a charm with 8.5.3.
