|
|
I am using the midi output of Jamstix to drive SD2. When I use the Export Audio Mixdown feature to create a mix - the drums do not produce sound. Should this work?
It works fine if I use the internal sounds of Jamstix or if I copy the midi file output of Jamstix to the SD2 track.

You must put something into the JS MIDI track so the host doesn't ignore it during mixdown. Best way is to put a single dummy MIDI event at the end of the song. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks for the quick response Ralph. I am traveling the next couple of days but will try this when I return and let you know the results... |

Hi Ralph,
I was just wondering about something.
As far as I knew, the ONLY thing that wasn't working properly in the Jamstix to Cubase with built in VST bridge was the MIDI out feature. Is this the same problem that now has a solution? Does it mean that the Cubase built in bridge is now fully functional with Jamstix? Or am I confusing two different issues?
Sincerely,

Ralph - I tried this but did not have success.
Here is what I am doing:
- Load Jamstix in the instrument rack in Cubase
- Load SD2 in the instrument rack in Cubase
- Create 1 midi track that has Jamsiix Midi out as the input and SD2 as the output
Jamstix plays fine but it does not perform an audio mixdown during export audio mixdown. I tried adding a midi event to the end and the beginning but no luck.
Am I missing something?

Have you tried a real time export?
I have VSTi tracks that get left out sometimes (since going 64 bit and needing the bridge). I all cases a real time export fixed it.

I tried real time export - same results.
I am using Jbridge to load Jamstix in Cubase - not sure if that would change the behaviour.

Ralph – I have tested this in Cubase 6.02 32 bit – still no luck. Any other thoughts?

The only explanation is that Cubase considers the Jamstix MIDI track empty and therefore doesn't process it during mixdown. Please double-check that you have a MIDI note event at the start and end of the song on the Jamstix MIDI track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph – re-checked and I do have a midi note at the start and end of the Jamstix track. I have been testing with many different ways to get this to work – load the internal Jamstix sounds and use midi out, load only the midi information in the mixer for the SD2 kit etc. – no luck.
This works fine with the audio output of Jamstix sounds but does not seem to transmit the midi information. |

Hi
Try turning off the steinberg audio power saving feature in the device setup window. I was having the same problem and now the exports are working fine...?
Worth a try..... |

Thanks for your reply. I do not use the Cubase power saving feature but rather set everything up in the BIOS.
Are you using Jamstix in midi only mode and the export is working for you?
