I save a groove that has some hits with open hats. When I use the import style, it previews okay, but JS3 plays it back with all closed hats.

Any suggestions?

It could be the selected drummer's interpretation of the groove. I think there is a control element for "open hats" that you could import and turn it up higher. Or, try the Silent drummer and see if he changes it or plays them open. That should get you headed in the right direction.
