Hello. I use JS2, Sonar 8, and Addictive Drums running under Win XP.
i want to use the JS2 "brain" to play the sounds in Addictive Drums (AD for short.), and I'm a little uncertain how to get this right, especially regarding the "snare bounce" sound, and the multiple hi-hat openness levels in JS2.
For the moment, I am running both JS2 and AD as plug-ins in Sonar, and attempting to create a drum map in Sonar that will remap the midi notes from JS2 to the correct sounds in AD. How do I map the "snare bounce" sound in JS2? And while AD has five midi notes that correspond to hi-hat openness (5 levels between open and closed), the JS2 midi key map only identifies three midi notes corresponding to hi-hat openness (3 levels between open and closed). How do a correctly map these sounds?
I understand there are other ways to accomplish this goal. What is your reccommendation? Should I:
1) change the midi note output in JS2 to correspond to the AD sounds?
2) change the midi note input in Ad to correspond to the JS2 instruments?
3) host AD inside JS2?
4) continue with the idea of creating a Sonar drum map to re-map the JS2 output to the correct notes in AD
As an aside, what I have done previously was to record a midi track of the JS2 output, and manually transpose the notes in the midi track to correspond with the correct AD sounds.
Thanks in advance. The Piano Man (lord knows I'm not a drummer ) |
