Ralph Z.,
Firstly, praise for Jamstix:
it's a masterpiece in the making with huge potential. I'm tickled to be in on the ground floor and learning the ropes.
Next, misc topix:
Samples: internal sample splash 8" sounds oddly metallic & somewhat distorted compared to splash 10". Is this intended?
Samples: i don't see a handclap internal sample available. This would be a nice bonus.
Sample sustain: under the Mapping tab, the instrument "Sustain" (slider) gradiation is far too drastic from 100% to 99% on all long-sustain cymbals. Please make the instrument sustain gradiation smooth & even.
Tom accents: for all internal toms, the "Triplet Out" seems to be missing the 2nd (middle) hit.
Tom accents: for internal toms 1 & 3, "Flam" is not very "flammy" (if at all), compared to that for toms 2, 4 & 5.
Output routing: I'm not sure how to take advantage of Jamstix' Console outs 2, 3 & 4. I can "map" sounds there, but cannot seem to audibly monitor or record them in my host (Acid 4.0). Unless I'm missing something obvious, one solution would be to add a little sub-mixer under the Output tab, which would combine the outs of Console channels 1, 2, 3 & 4 into a single stereo out.
(I'm using Jamstix' Manual mode mostly, if this makes a difference.)
Thanks in advance for your patience and support. |

Well, the darn thing sounded that way in real life. You could just assign the 10" sample to the 8" slot and then raise the pitch a bit.

We'll look at these things

Acid 4 may not have support for multiple VSTi outputs or maybe there's an option in Acid somewhere? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
I'm currently using your work-around solution for the quirky splash 8".
And so, we both agree that "Acid 4 may not have support for multiple VSTi outputs", as I have not found it yet, and/or it is not clear to me how to make it work.
Does anyone else have trouble utilizing Jamstix' Console channel outputs 2, 3 & 4?? Any work-around suggestions?
Thanks,

I don't know Acid at all, but a this page seems to indicate that VST support and Multiport VSTi support is new with Acid 5.

It works fine in Tracktion. I get 4 stereo outputs that I can route to 8 individual tracks. |
