I'm trying to lock some individual events and it seems hit'n'miss whether the event s locked or not. I can only believe that I'm misunderstanding as surely JS3 can't be that erratic?

I have a load of patterns I'm reasonably happy with, excepting 1 snare hit in each bar that I want quieter. Adjusting the feel variation doesn't do the trick, so I've manually set the velocity to be lower for this hit. Then I set 'Lock' which I'm believing locks this event from brain interference (hey, that's what the tooltip says!). I also have "Lock all manual events ticked". But when I hit Recompose for bar, as in some bars I want a variation, the "locked" hit often (but not always) gets reset back to max volume.

It's erratic in that sometimes it stays locked (with a red bar in the grid), sometimes not. I'm confused as what's happening doesn't map to what I think *should* be happening. i.e. Locking an event really should lock that event, and recompose all the other unlocked events, whilsy freezing the locked one for ever.

As to why the manually adjusted events aren't auto-locked, I'm also confused as I have the manual events locked. Does this only apply to entered events as opposed to editted events?

Any clues as to how I can prevent drum hits from brain alteration? This is driving me crazy Mad

I have about the same problem. Also when doing a copy of a bar and then pasting it in the following bar with repeat 6 times over, not all the manually locked hits gets copied. I even sometimes have the problem of that no hits get copied at all like this (Note: Animated image):

OK Ralph. When I get chance, I'll send the JS3 Song File and the exact sequence of actions I'm performing. Perhaps this thread should be moved to support? I was assuming I was misunderstanding the way locking works.

Is locking intended to freeze event edits as well as event inserts? I noticed that composing a pattern *always* replaced the manual edits. This surprised me as I would expect locked events to stay exactly how I want them unitl unlocked. Whereas composing the bar sometimes replaced them, sometimes not.

I'm using Jamstix 3.1.3 Beta in Reaper 3.75/x64 and locking events doesn't work properly for me, either (but locking the whole bar does). It doesn't seem to consistently "force this event to override the brains composition". If locked events is supposed to "only get deleted when the song is reset in the song menu or you hit 'Recompose' in the part menu", it's not working as it should, it seems.
