Expecting a kick and a crash at the start of a bar, but they are being "skipped due to early downbeat". How do I stop this from happening?

Thanks!

In the Fills tab, some styles/drummers have a knob for Early Downbeat, which makes the drummer play the "1" at the end of a part on the previous bar's "4" instead. If it's set to anything but zero, you've got a chance for it to happen.

Thanks Lokasenna!

Not at my music PC right now... so, I have to go to the bar prior to the one that is skipping the hits and make sure that early downbeat is set to 0?

Aside from this, one thing I attempted was to set the individual hits to 'locked'. Isn't this supposed to override the brain? If it was overriding the brain, shouldn't the hits be audible? Just wondering because it didn't do that as I had expected. This is almost surely a case of wrong expectations, but I'm just making sure...

Delete the kick, crash on the 4-and of the preceding bar to remove the early downbeat, which suppresses notes on the downbeat of the following bar.

Ralph, I tried this and couldn't get it to work, but aside from that, the problem is that I want the hits on the 4-and of the previous bar anyway. Can we just make it so that if we set the hit to 'locked', that the brain ignores the "skipped due to early downbeat" rule? User override kind of thing?

k, got it to work by taking all my hits out of the accents tab and putting them in the groove tab, but still... I think that having it override the brain when it is 'locked' would be cool.

Did I ever tell you that I love Jamstix? I love Jamstix. Dude, you have made the single greatest piece of musical software in existence here. You've probably heard this a million times, but I hope it still hits you when someone says it. I mean it. This thing is pure genius.

Once the interface is learned it stops drum programming being a chore and actually leads to song ideas in some cases Smile

You guys are too kind. Thank you!!

Fishy, I'll see what I can do about the locked notes on early downbeats.

Sorry for necromantizing the thread, but I've got a pretty persistent problem with this.

Example situation: got a Standard Rock groove with a kick on 1 and a snare on 4-and (and some other stuff in between that probably doesn't matter here). Then there's a fill, with early downbeats definitely set to 0%, and yet JS claims that there is one, so the last 16th of the fill and the first 16th of the next bar is muted. I end up having no downbeat at all at the start of the new bar. I've tried removing and re-adding all of the notes in question with no result, and recomposing the fill a bunch of times with different "early downbeat" settings didn't change anything, either.

Any great ideas?

(PS. I'm not a drummer so terminology used in this post might be a bit stupid.)

I actually planned on mentioning that but somehow forgot. Tony is the one playing this song.
(By the way, one of the other things I tried, without success, was to crank the style<->drummer slider for the fill all the way in both directions.)
