I've been using Jamstix2-3 (32bit) running under Bidule on Windows Vista 64. The Touchsmart is a 2.2ghz dual processor. Jamstix up to version 3.0.1 was using about 20%-30% of my CPU. Once I installed version 3.1.0 Jamstix is using 70%-90%. At 70% CPU its just too much for my PC. This load goes over 100% and interrupts the sound. Other then the CPU issue the new drums and styles seem to work fine.
I tried to re install and reboot. I rolled back to version 3.0.1 and the CPU usage drops back to 20%-30% I purchased the AI pack and it requires 3.1 so I'd like to get it working.

I could use some help with this please. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response. I've sent along my log files to your email account. The new AI pack sounds great just hope I can get it to run.

Hi Ty,
The log shows a latency of 32 samples, which is extremely small. Not sure how this ever worked with Jamstix since it has to do so much during each audio buffer. Please try a latency of 64 samples and CPU usage should drop significantly.

Thanks. The latency setting did it. I’ve been running for years with the 32 sample buffer, just didn’t ask too much of the box I guess till now. I’ve got the 3.1.0 working and the new module is great.

Just upgraded to Jamstix 3.1. I was especially interested in the lower processor usage in Cantibile. However, it seems to use a lot more processor. With 3.02, I had to run with a 256 sample buffer to keep the reported processor usage below 100%. With a 256 sample buffer in 3.1, I've seen the reported processor usage go over 800%!. To keep the processor below 100%, I've got to expand the buffer to over 1024 samples, which introduces too much latency. Even at 1024, the MetalPak styles will drive it over 100%.

Any advice?

Let me now if turning LoD off makes any difference. What OS and Cantabile version are you running? I have 3.1 here on a mainstream i7-920 in Cantabile 2.0 using 16% CPU at 176 samples latency.

Turning off LoD helps. Running with 256 sample buffer it's pretty steady between 20% and 30% now, although it will still blip up over 100% and then settle back down.
I'm running an HP notebook with a Pentium Dual Core (T4200) processor running at 2ghz. Three gig of RAM, 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Cantibile 2.0 (latest version)
