I’m trying out the demo version of Jamstix 3 in Reaper v3.75 on 32-bit Windows XP Home SP 3, using a 1440x900 display set to 120 DPI.
Notice the classic kick/snare controls... the sliders overlap the fourth column of boxes, making it impossible to check or uncheck them. Before selecting Standard Rock, I had loaded the 12-8th groove map. This didn’t happen with a regular 4/4 measure and not loading any groove map.
Also — a minor point, as it’s easy to work around — notice the scroll bar at the bottom. The window seems to open ever so slightly too narrow: dragging the right edge the tiniest bit to the right makes the scroll bar go away and reveals the information at the bottom of the window. I don’t know if that’s a Jamstix problem or a Reaper problem, but I don’t recall seeing it with other VSTs.
Edit:
The scroll bar glitch seems likely to be a Reaper bug. The same thing (a horizontal scroll bar covering the bottom of the GUI, with no vertical scroll bar, and the full width of the GUI visible) can be obtained with any VST by dragging the right edge a pixel left of the minimum width that shows no horizontal scroll bar. Jamstix 3, not in compact mode, just seems to be the only VST that opens that way.
The kick/snare gitch seems to depend entirely on the groove weights (specifically, the number of Heavy weights and the distribution of non-Heavy beats between them), but I can’t identify a pattern. I do notice that if I change groove weights in the bar editor, the kick/snare grids don’t change to match until I Hide either one of them: then they both change.

| For the Scroll Bar in JS Options tick the Compact user interface and Save and re-load the Reaper project. You can also stretch the JS window in Reaper to get better access by grabbing the bottom right hand corner like most,"Window's" windows. |

I'll look in to the GUI issue with classic grid under 12/8. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

When the Damping Control is at 12'O'Clock the tails of all instruments are full on.At even the slightest movement past that to the right they are virtually full off. This gives no real control of the tails of the sounds. In some songs I need to have control of how long the decays are. This is a,"Major" control or me.
In some cases I've had to route the individual sound out and use a noise gate as a crude way of getting more control |
