Sure, since I mostly program in classic mode, back when JS1 was used there were some basic grid sort of what snare and kick are now in JS3 for the hats.
So the input grid could have the open, foot, closed, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and none selections, perhaps double and triple hits as one selection?
As far as programing, if say a 1/2 shank was desireed at the end of a bar and that was part of the groove, it would be cool if the rest of the bar the JS brain filled in the rest according to LH and RH availability.
Another selection would be to check a box or turn a slider called "aggressive" and that would switch the map selections from tip to shank.
This program has changed the quality of my recordings and I really appreciate it very much. Thanks Ralph for the great product! |

Other ideas.
Ralph... using again Jamstix Classic beacuse I like to program hits... Could there be an A, B, C, D, grid for snare, kick, and hat in the main groove area by selecting a box adding another grid? By default it would open with one grid (part A) and have add an alt grid or something? What I have to do is program four verse parts to vary the kick snare and hat beat during one verse part. I like the drummer style and all that but it would be just a suggestion to allow for alternate groove parts without having to create separate song parts. I hope that made sense? Thanks for reading! |

|
|
Please help me I am a little new and don't think I am understanding how to do this. I want Jamstix 3 to play my BDF2 drums instead included ones. I am not understanding the information I can piece together from the manual or this forum.
I dont care if either the BDF samples are loaded into Jamstix or Jamstix is hosting BDF- which ever way works.
Thanks so much |

Windows 7, Reaper and Sonar 8.0
I figured out a couple things, i Guess "load Plugin" makes Jamstix a subhost? I got the BDF@.dll to load up, but when I go to load a BDF2 kit, it all crashes, including Reaper or Sonar. |

Please send me rzdlog.txt from My Documents\Jamstix3.
Also, an alternative way is this:
- load BFD2 into host
- check MIDI OUT ONLY in Jamstix
- load BFD2 kit into Jamstix (won't crash since it won't actually load the DLL)
- add a MIDI track with input=Jamstix and output=BFD2 to the host _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi,
I am using using BFD2 to play JS3 output, by choosing "midi only" in the mixer. I am using reaper. Reaper seems to allow me to put JS3 first in the track FX chain, BFD2 second in the chain, and viola the midi output is routed to the BFD midi input as if by magic.
But now I see a problem, and I'm wondering what the best way to go is. All of the sounds do not map appropriately. For example I'm using some 25% Hihat which is silent in bfd. I see in the kit page I can "show key map", do I need to go to BFD using this keymap and make a custom mapping to get all the sounds to play correctly? Or, I see there is a BFD2 - vistalite kit. Do I instead load this kit? But I don't want the vistalite sounds, want to use a different kit. I'm not getting what the right way to go with the mapping is. Can you please tell me what the correct way to map JS3 midi to BFD2. Thanks

Two ways:
a) Start with the Vistalite kit in JS3 and then open BFD in JS and change the kit to what you want.
b) Keep the kit you have but use load the Vistalite kit over it with the 'KEYS ONLY" option checked in the load kit dialog so that only the key layout gets loaded. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm sorry I don't understand either method. In the first method, I am not finding any MIDI OUT ONLY on Jamstix, I do see a MIDI ONLY button on the mixer section, but the BFD2 plugin in Jamstix goes away if i press this.
In the second method, since I am loading BDF2 as a plugin inside Jamstix, Reaper does not show BFD2 as a possible output. |

David, I am new to using Reaper and want to do what you are doing with Jamstix playing BFD2. Could you please give me a step by step setup process? |

can we see updated maps for BFD3 please?
I would also like to know if Jamstix can take advantage of some of the extended mapping that BFD3 has to offer. |
