i'm not sure exactly what info u want regarding my asio driver--i think it's asio 2.0, came with my edirol ua-25 usb soundcard/interface-- i tried adjusting the buffer size and lowering the latency, but it didn't make a difference--are u sure sure sure that u did it exactly like i said, because i can't believe it's my system, as it occurs in exactly the same way every time--it's exactly those bars i referred to, etc.--(so far in regard to every aspect of the program we've been on the same page, so i find it hard to believe it's just me) -- i was right about the mute problem affecting the preview, so u never know --can u maybe try these two things one more time?
1. load "back and forth", set intro to bar 5, and try to preview a fill anywhere from bars 16-19
2. set first 4 bars to an unloaded rhythm, preview fill in bar 5 in rhythm 0 (back and forth in this case)-
just for comparison, use "down the drain" as fill in every case, and use "easy does it" as intro--not that i think it makes a difference which ones u use, but u never know-- thanks ralph, you're the best-- |

I'll double-check with the exact same fills... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sammy, here are the precise steps I took:
- new project in Cubase SX 2
- added Jamstix to instrument rack
- hit play and stop in Cubase to initialize song position information
- verified internal sounds loaded
- loaded 'Back and forth' into slot 0
- in arranger set Intro 'Easy does it' on bar 5 and fill 'Down the drain' on bar 17.
- previewed fill bar 17 in a loop
I sent you an MP3 of what it sounds like to your E-mail address.
I just can't hear anything wrong with it... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| ok, i got your e-mail, and the preview does indeed seem perfect on the mp3 u sent me-- but check this out, you're not gonna believe this--i tried it again, and same thing happened--but then i decided to follow exactly what u did down to the T, and it worked! -- the only change i made was to press play on the sequencer before i loaded the rhythm, whereas usually i either just load without pressing play, or if i want to preview a rhythm i always forget to press play until i get a message telling me to do so---however, after it worked, and i couldn't believe that little change made a differnece, i tried to preview the intro on bar 5 (easy does it) again, even though it's already loaded, and it was fine, but then i previewed the fill on 17 again, and this time it was messed up!--so, try: not pressing play in sequencer before loading--or, after u follow the exact procedure as u described in last post, preview the intro again and then preview the fill again and tell me what happens |

| ok, hang on a second--for some reason, i myself cannot even duplicate the problem by not pressing play and stop in cubase until loading rhythm, etc., even though five minutes ago, i could-- but for sure i know that once i preview the intro, then the preview on 17 is messed up--and specifically i should note, the way it's messed up is not the same as with the mute problem before--it is just playing the fill without the rhythm-- |

oh baby! i was actually about to admit myself into an institution (my inner psychologist tells me that i have a deep-rooted inferiority complex due to the perfection of Jamstix, and i have started imagining all sorts of little issues with it in order to make myself feel better ) |

| in regard to the other thing, it is slightly different and i don't know if it's connected, but... load back and forth to slot 0, set first four bars to rhythm 1 with no rhythm loaded for rhythm 1, then try to preview a fill from bar 5 -15--and the first time u do, it might work properly--so preview, and if it works properly, then close the preview dialog, then try to preview again--in this instance, it does play the rhythm along with the fill, just it is like missing one snare hit --you'll see, something's off --i tried setting the first 7 bars to rhythm 1 instead of the first four, and it seemed to affect more bars, from 8 to twenty something) |

hey, thanks a lot--the test build seems to fix all the problems!--the only thing is that the preview on the intro(!) didn't sound right--well i set the accent sliders to 0 and it worked--but it's not like it put in an accent--the timing was off--i tried it with a bunch of intros-if the accent sliders were raised at all, it messed it up---but all the fills previews were perfect, no matter the placement of any other bars, etc.--so thank u once again for your time and efforts
P.S. i just made jam meister today--how many posts do u need to become site administrator? |
