I bought the directixer (thanks for arranging the special discount)- but I have no idea what to do. This is typical for me! I use Sonar 3PE - and up until now - I have numerous plug-ins installed via the cakewalk VST adapter. Am I supposed to uninstall all the cakewalk VST adapter files first?? Do I uninstall the cakewalk VST program from windows XP?? How does Sonar know to start using directizer vs VSt adapter files. Some plug-ins are DXi and VST - how can I tell the difference? It would be nice to know since the DXi version of a plug-in generally doesn't work as well as the VSt version (and therefore I just won't reference the DXi version anymore).
So in general - how do I switch over to the directixer - and how do I know it is working from within SOnar?

DirectiXer and CW VST can coexist perfectly. No need to uninstall or change anything. CW VST generally puts VSTi in Sonar in a submenu 'VST'. DirectiXer puts them in the parent menu of VST (main DXi insert menu) with Manufacturer+Name. So, for Jamstix as an example you will see two entries
1) rayzoon jamstix - that's the DirectiXer version
2) VST -> jamstix - that's the CW VST version
Hope this helps _________________ Ralph Zeuner

thanks. You are right!
I can't help but ask ... how does it make the connection to Sonar? Is there some pre-established register or file that directixer (or the adapter) writes to?
thanks again

The DXi uses the registry to connect plugins and hosts. Sonar simply looks in the registry to find out what DXi plugins are available. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
