|
|
I wish to install JS2 from scratch on my Windows 7 Pc.
The steps are, I think:
-- install the Jamstix 2 VSTi plugin ("Run as Administrator"),
-- install the v2.5.2 update,
-- enter the JS2 Licence # when requested,
-- install the stock drum kit, via "Install Pak",
-- install the XL, Bonzo, Metal and Jamcussion drum kits, via "Install Pak" and enter kit licence #s when requested.
Do I need to install DrumPaks #1 & #2, SnarePak, BrushPak and ePak? Or are they all included in the XL Pak (even though its size (about 250MB) is smaller than the 5 paks (535MB)?
Is that correct? Have I missed anything?
----------
Then, to go to JS3:
-- install the JS3 Plugin, "Run as Administrator".
-- enter the JS3 Licence # when requested,
-- install the JS3 Stock Kits (2 parts), using "Install Pak"
-- install the v3.0.1 update.
All OK?
I would like to use both JS2 and JS3 for a time, so am not sure what (if anything) I should Migrate. Does the Migration tool migrate everything or just the patches or ...? I could not find it mentioned in the User Guide

All okay but click 'JS2 Migration Tool' as the last step. And, yes, XL Pak covers all the old JS1 Paks. The size is smaller due to better compression in JS2 Paks. Also, please run any updaters as admin as well. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

OK, thank you.
Could you clarify what the Migration tool does? - I wish to be able to continue using JS2 after the migration. |

It copies styles, drummers and kits to JS3 so JS2 will still work as before. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ok,
I have done the JS2 install. Before I go on I would like to bring over any useful elements from my old JS1 installation (on an old PC). I do not wish to install JS1 on this Windows 7 PC.
Looking aorund I see that I should:
a) copy the JS1 rrf files (in the "rhythms" folder) to the "data\grooves" folder
b) copy the JS1 raf files (in the "accents" folder) to the "data\fills" folder
In the JS2 Kits window I can see a section for Jamstix 1 but it is empty. To get the JS1 kits into JS2, should I copy the JS1 "mappings" folder and place it alongside the JS2 "data" folder? Or somewhere-else? Or ...?
Finally are there any samples in JS1 that are not in JS2 (stock and XL Pak)? If so, which ones, and to what folder should I copy them? |

Yes, you can copy JS1 grooves ans fills as you said.
JS1 kits can be copied underneath the 'kits' folder in JS3 'data'.
JS1 samples are NOT included in the JS2 stock kit. If you want them, you need to install them from the original kit installer. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
