As a user of JS2 since 2008, everything worked under Win7 X64 and Live 8 until now. Whenever i click on the buttons to install Packs or load a VST, i get an ntdll.dll exception and the dialog box closes. A fresh install of Win7 didn't help.
If i load JS2 through savihost.exe, everything works fine.
Now i have tried this with JS3 Demo, where i get a freeze when opening the Load Plugin dialog.
The rzlog file does not get written. I've checked permissions and set the whole JS and vstplugins folder to full access for all users.
And now the wierd thing: if i reinstall Live, then run it (without having rebooted) the problem does not occur. If i then close Live an start it again, the problem is back, from that point on it doesn't work anymore. Same with reboot after installation of Live. Only point where it works is directly after installation for exactly 1 time.
Would there any change to get rid of this problem (except installing Live after every boot of course...)

I'm trying the demo version of jBridge now, and so far JS2 'Bridged' seems to work. But not without glitches and dropouts. May have to do with the higher cpu consumption but raising the buffer size doesn't seem to help a lot.

So, because there is no reasonable workaround available, may i kindly ask for a fix in Jamstix2 ?

Thanks in advance
Andreas

I've tried disabling all other vst plugins and even selected the onboard sound instead of my firewire device - no change.

The only workaround: start Live with audio disabled, then re-enable audio and load Jamstix. No ntdll errors with this method.

Very strange.

Jamstix 3.0.2 has a fix for the issue. As soon as it is released, we will also have an updated demo for you to check out.

Hi Ralph

Is it possible to make this fix for 2.5.x too, where I would be very happy about, i'm used to the old GUI and surprisingly like it more than the new one.
Though i have no clue if any other user would appreciate this.
I would yet pay a little fee if you could do it.

Anyway, thanks for the hard work on this amazing peace of software!

I've tried the new 3.0.2 Demo where the load kit problem went away.
But the ntdll error still exists when loading a plugin dll.

This makes me go crazy. Is there any explanation, can i try something?

Makes me go crazy, too. It's an issue nestled deep in compiler class code and changes made in Windows 7. Does the 'Install Pak' dialog work for you?

'Install Pak' does only work in the full version, so i cannot try that.

I guess it could have to do something with Visual C++ 2008 Runtime, but i'm no programmer. Everything began with a problem where Live wouldn't start any more because of some update (i remember something about Visual C++), after that i re-installed everything and from this time the ntdll error came up.

Again, if i start Live with audio driver disabled, and then enable it at runtime, everything works without any ntdll error.

2.5.3 RC1 is now out with this fix.

Unfortunately, this does not work for me.

Now i'm going to wipe away Win7, restoring my good old XP image.

Did this error appeared after you clicked 'Install Pak'? Did the dialog ever open?

It happened both when clicking on 'install Pak' and also 'select dll'.
No dialog did open in both cases.
