| Loading Jamstix3 into Ableton or Reaper, I click in the TRG column and press C4 on my keyboard controller and it comes up in Jamstix as C3. Recording the same note in Reaper confirms that it's C4, as does dumping the raw MIDI file. |

That is the famous Yamaha octave difference. What Yamaha calls "C3" is sometimes called "C4" by other devices. They are the same note. Jamstix follows the Yamaha convention. I'll see about adding a naming option to one of the next updates. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Good grief. I wasted a lot of time pulling out what little is left of my hair trying to figure out why my part changes weren't happening |

Sorry about that, mate! Octave naming has unfortunately never been standardized and the Yamaha convention is what most synth guys are used to (DX7 effect). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Just posted 3.0.2 RC3 with a pitch naming option so you can adjust this. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks.
Are these pre-releases announced anywhere? The web site and RSS feed seem to be a bit behind. |

Betas and RCs are only announced in this forum. Official updates go to RSS. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

So RSS feeds for the forums would be great I asked about this in another post.
I use SmartFeed for my own forums. It was trivial to install and works pretty well. |

I take it that if your DAW uses Yamaha naming you set that option in Jamstix options i.e. it doesn't change the note it responds to , just tells you which note to send?
I'm using Ableton and had liveloops working fine with program changes but can't get it to work at all that way or with notes now.
Which naming option does Ableton use? I can't find it their manual.
TIA |

The change affects only the naming of the note in the interface not the actual note processing. I'm not sure what Ableton uses but the easiest way is to open any option for key assignment in JS3 (options or kit editor) and hit a key on the MIDI keyboard. The list will jump to that note. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks. I'll give it another go. |
