Ralph,
I had the need for a crash accent on a specific beat in a rythm and figured that maybe I could make my own accent with just the cymbal in it since the documentation says that (unless you have the SilentUntil param set) JamStix will overlay the accent with the current rythm.
So, I made a very simple .raf file, and applied the new fill to a few bars in the arranger and it worked just fine.... almost
In preview mode and in some bars it works just beautiful, the current rytm is retained and the crash arrives just as expected.
But, in some bars where my new fill is applied JamStix switch from closed hat to open hat (the crash is right on time however).
I have not been able to reproduce this consistently, for some bars it works as expected and for some JamStix switch to open hat (about 50/50).
I have all the sliders all the way down to ensure that there are not randomization involved.
Any hints on this? Maybe I'm doing something wrong or you made the JamStix brains work to close to a real drummers e.g. always doing almost what you want him to do but never exactly
Below is the small .raf file I created. I tried it with one of the basic rock rythms (rock basic with 16 hats if my memory serves me)
Regards
Yohan

Jamstix generally goes to semi/open hats on fills. We were thinking about making this an option in an update so you have control over it.
Your RAF file looks good. Are you sure about the tick 32, though? Jamstix uses 12 ticks per quarter so 32 is an 8th triplet length before the 3rd beat. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Are there guidelines/instructions on creating your own RAF (fill) files? _________________ Antony Richards

Ralph,
it would be great to have such an option since everything works so well except for the semi/open hat switch.
As for the tick 32, it was just a test. Now, if I only could find the time to hack up a fill editor. Oh, and a midi to raf converter would be nice as well. Just find some nice fills in tab format, run them through TabTrax to get the midi and then convert the midi to raf.. |
