I was able to do this in older versions of JS, but I am having no luck in JS3.
There are three things I would like to be able to do in asking this question.
1. Assign All Cymbals to ouput one, all toms to output two, kick drum to ouput three, and snare to output four, so I can easily adjust the volume of each one of these groups of sounds seperately.
2. I would like for each of these four outputs to show up in Cubase as four seperate outputs so I can use EQ and plugins such as reverb, compressors, etc. to process each groups output seperately.
3 Have a way that I can set this up as the default setup no matter what drumkit I load, so I do not have to go thru setting this up everytime I choose a different drumkit in each new different song.

1: I load a drumkit then click on say the Kick Drum to select it. I then click on plus icon by the ouputs icon and select output 3. Once I do this I no longer can hear the kick drum. This happens no matter what I choose (snare, kick, hihat, etc.) and no matter what ouput I choose. The songs also do not play back when hitting play in Cubase 5.
2: Only one ouput shows up in Cubase for JS3
So as you see I cannot even get the first step of what I want to do to work, so I definitley cannot get the second two to work.
I have a desktop computer in my studio I have not tried this on yet, but so you no what I am working with I am experimenting trying to get this to work on my laptop. I use it for when I am on the road or in my house sitting in my recliner where it is more comfortable, when doing editing of songs that do not require high end monitors and mixing enviroment like in my studio control room, and when learning things about new software such as I am doing here.
In case it is important in you helping me: my laptop is a HP with Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @2.53GHz, with 4GB of ram, 500GB 7200RPM internal HD, Tascam Fireone Firewire Audio Interface, and running Cubase 5 as my DAW.
Any advice will be greatly appreciatted.
May God Bless Your Day,
Russell

You need to enable all audio outputs for JS3 in Cubase. I think there is an icon for that in the VST instrument rack.

OK, I chose 6 audio outputs in the JS3 options menu, restarted JS3 like it says to do, assigned 6 JS3 ouputs in cubase 5. Once doing this I loaded different drumkits in JS3 and each kit was setup different, example (sometimes hihat JS3 ouput 3 sometime 4, etc.), but I can now assign each sound to the ouput 1-6 in JS3 and control their volume seperately in JS3. This leaves me with two problems
1: Is there a way to make a setup you like, example:(kick output one, snare ouput two, hihat output three, cymbals output four, etc.) then save this and be able to apply it to what ever drumkit I choose, so I do not have to go through this every time I load a different drumkit.
2: Even though I am able to assign each sound to a different output in the JS3 mixer, and have assigned 6 JS3 outputs in Cubase 5, all the sounds from JS3 still play through output one of the JS3 outputs in Cubase 5. How do I get each channel of the mixer in JS3 to play thru corresponding output in Cubase (channel one in JS3 mixer plays thru channel one of the JS3 channels in Cubase 5) to be able to use EFX plugins in cubase on different sounds on each channel.

1: we are planning a load/save output routing option for the kit menu

2: make sure 'Downmix' in the JS3 mixer is NOT checked.

Ralph,
As usual thanks for the great informative, accurate information. As I've told you tons of times, but I keep saying for you and for anyone new on this forum to know. You not only make an unbelievable product, sell it at a tremendous price, but you have for all these years given the most effecient, quick, tech support of any product I use, and owning a recording studio for years now, and for years now being totally computer based I use tons of software. Thanks for all you do.
Looking forward to the load/save output routing option for the kit menu you said you are working on.
That is about the only thing I need out of JS that it does not already do.
