I'm a drummer but new to Jamstix as of today. It is so very cool! I'm trying to program in a song though, with some very specific patterns, and I can't seem to override some of the automatic stuff.

The song is set to "silent" drummer and "silent" style, and I've unchecked the RF and TF boxes, but sometimes a particular bar will "Red X" my snare hit and I can't seem to stop it doing so.

What can I do to force it?

Thanks.

BTW, I totally understand the power of Jamstix is in letting it create its own thing Razz I just need to figure out how to control it.

Well i,m no expert but , I know jamstix will only let you play 1 sound with 1 limb at any 1 time, so just check that you don,t have 2 drums trying to be played by the same limb at once.

Of course there may be something else i,m unaware of causing the problem but it worth checking out.

Cheers

I must admit to having the same problem sometimes - even when no accent or fill is on or near the snare (you have to look in those two windows as well to see all that is going on during the bar).

It WAS the limb control, but WHY? RH is only hitting the snare on this beat (4). The note in the Status Bar about this beat, it says "SNARE V:100 P:0 T:0 MS [KICK] TRANSITION TIME FROM SNARE CENTER" Why would there be a reference to [kick] when there isn't a kick on that beat, or on either of the beats immediately preceding or following it?

But turning off "limb control" DID stop it doing that. Weird. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Transition time skips are due to the arm/foot speed. You can go to the 'Options' and increase arm speed and/or reduce arm delay.

I still don't understand why [KICK] appears for most notes no matter what limb. I searched in the manual, but did not find an explanation.

It's just the name of the generating element. We need to adjust it to show 'Manual' for manually placed events.

But I think this is not the only case, there are a lot of unmatching limbs with generating elements. I have some bars where all the cells show [SNARE] where the elements where not created by snare. Other times it is [KICK].

Were they manually created notes?

make sure there is not a hit in accent or fill tab for limb.

A lot of times there is a red x on the groove because there is an accent hit or a fill hit with that limb on that beat.

Not sure if that makes sense, but that confused me for a while.

But i do remember that a while ago I could not get rid of the red x on a snare hit. There was no accent or fill hit, but the red X was stuck there. I ended up deleting the snare hit, adding a tom hit and then adding the snare back in and it got rid if the red X.
