I started playing around with JS3 today on some of my songs in Sonar, and I can't seem to get away from a very awkward feel in the timing.

I'm looking to get a straight 8 rock feel, and no matter how I play with the controls and biases many measures start off with extra hits that are a little off timing-wise (seemingly early to my ear).

It's almost as it the drummer is trying to be a little too fancy and he popped a couple of codeine-tylenol a half-hour before the performance thereby throwing his timing off.

I've tried every combination of drummers/styles that I could think of, and played with the pocket control and the bass and snare biases.

Is there a general rule of thumb for achieving simple, perfectly timed rock beats?

FWIW, my PC is a monster power-wise and never hangs up or glitches even for my insanely complex songs. The songs I'm trying JS3 on are simple with only a few tracks, barely making a dent in CPU usage.

I'm having trouble with JS3's timing as well...

The first bit is a midi file played through JS2, second bit is the exact same midi played through JS3.

All I did was add a new track, put JS on it, load a kit and make it play a midi file in drum module mode. Exactly the same on both tracks.

Any idea how to fix this? At the moment JS3 is unusable to me.

I use Reaper 3.2, btw.

Well I'll be...

I messed around with my soundcard's ASIO buffer size and setting that small enough took care of the drunken drummer syndrome. Smile

Sun_Tzu you might as well try that too, you never know. Smile

Ok, guys, I'll give that a try and report back. Part of the problem might be that I'm using WDM drivers (I think) with an Audigy ZS. I'll see about changing the buffer size and will look into either ASIO for ALL or perhaps a new sound card.

Please install JS 3.0.1 which fixes timing issues at higher latencies.
