Can you still choke cymbals? In JS3? Thanks. E.

Yes, double-click the cell where you want to choke and then right-click and select Choke. Make sure it's the limb opposite of the cymbal you want to choke.

Unless there's a setting I missed somewhere, my cymbals don't seem to want to choke. I have a cymbal hit on one hand, and a choke on the other hand, but it doesn't have any effect (moving the choke earlier/later doesn't help either)

Any suggestions?

JS3 currently checks the output channel of the choke element (even though it is invisible). You disabled output #1 in your song so the choke was not executed. Enable the output and it will choke properly.

The next update will contain a fix so chokes are executed regardless of output setting.

Fair enough. Thanks for the heads-up.

On a related note, did you ever figure out a way for JS3 to work with Slate's chokes? If not, I had a thought that might help - since Slate has them as a separate note, played on the cymbal hit rather than when it chokes off, what if you added a "Slate-style chokes" option/element? Users would program chokes as normal, but Slate-style would look for the last cymbal hit before the choke and replace it with Slate's choke note.

It seems like it would work, at least in my head. At any rate, I just wanted to pass on the idea. Cheers.

This can be done by creating a subhost section for Kontakt:

[Kontakt3] //or 4
CH_15=x
CH_16=y
CH_17=z
...

Replace x, y,z with SSD choke key numbers.

Here is a reference of the cymbal #s above:

15=Crash 1
16=Crash 2
17=Crash 3
18=Crash 4

19=Splash 1
20=Splash 2
21=Splash 3

22=China 1
23=China 2
24=China 3
25=China 4
