you are fast. I loaded that one guessing it was it. Does sound nice. I have everything under the sun (BFD2, SD 2, AD, SSD, OWD). Totally holds its own when banging away on the pads.
Now I need to figure out how to best use this as a drum module with my Yamaha DTX III/ |

Dwayne: thanks, buddy!
gmon72: haven't looked at the DTX3 but let me know if you find anything that could be improved for it. I'd start with 'Map GM' on and 'TD-20' off. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| If I turn TD-20 off will I still get CC4 info for opening and closing the hats? I'd love to see some way to control which CC 4 position data corresponds to closed, 1/4, 1/2, full, etc. (hope that made sense) |

CC4 should still work. Let me know if it doesn't. You should be able to adjust what CC4 is sent for each grade of openness on your drum kit brain. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I am fairly certain there is no setting for this in the DTX. I know roland has the border note settings. That is why BFD2 method of hat openness works well. Without building a whole GUI, it would probably help to have an .ini file where I could input values and use midiox etc to looks at the range of values sent. |

I'd been playing around with Jamstix for the better part of a week and just from the 'toy' perspective it was really cool; comparing drummers, checking out the kits, etc. Since I'm one of the red-headed step children, I hadn't actually sync'd it up to any music yet. This morning I replaced an Apple Loop drum line that I was fairly proud of - I had varied my loops for what I thought was a pretty natural sound - with a Jamstix track I'd programmed to roughly mirror the Apple Loops.
Ba-BAM!!!
I can't believe how good the Jamstix track sounded. It took the drum part to a whole new level. It wasn't just a nice backing track anymore, it was music, suddenly the drums were holding their own with the other instruments. I am flabbergasted.
Jamstix is a great toy and an AMAZING tool!

I have to agree. Jamstix 3 is fantastic!
The Song Builder is a wonderful addition that makes it so much easier to get a song up and running quickly, and the new standard kit sounds great.
The interface is also much improved. Like others, I wish there wasn't any 'frame scrolling' in the song window, but overall it's huge improvement over Jamstix 2.
It looks better, it sounds better, it works better. Great job Ralph! |

Re: DTX improvements, would be cool if you had a built in map for it.
I posted a link to your youtube video on vdrums.com/forum
You may want to think about selling a module only version for edrummers. |

At thie risk of bumping an older thread, just wanted to add my thanks for the great work on v3!
The interface and workflow improvements are fantastic. I'm finding it even easier to get quickly to the desired results. |
